Used to be 30 posts in a matter of minutes at times. Anyone have a copy of the obituary?

I lopped off a ton of the old posts, at least 100,000 of them. It wasn't worth the cost to store them. The forum came within minutes of a decision to pull the plug and just focus on the classifieds, which is doing fine.

When you refer to embarrassing, to what are you addressing? All we do is host a platform. If people elect not to show up, it's less likely a technology issue, as that part seems to work just fine. I have my own opinions as I'm sure others do also, but my gut tells me this is a hostile environment that newcomers just don't care to invest their time.

I can't blame them.

If anyone were to ask me if it was a good idea to host a forum for breeders, I would tell them run in the other direction faster than you can say pluba.

People get as passionate about pets as they do about their own children. Then there are those who would baby a person who lost a child but shun someone who lost a pet. Hypocrites --the pet world is full of them. It's hard to know how to act around other pet people because you get kicked in the butt for having your own opinions. Also, I've seen this here and on BBC2, regulars attack others who do the same shit they do. Another example of the insincerity displayed on these forums. Another thing, you mod have not answered to those who called you for aid. You need to have your PMs sent to your inbox or something. If you were quicker on the draw when it came to fulfilling the posters' wishes, people might actually enjoy coming here again.

Edit to add: this is just my opinion. Deduce what you want from it. If I were the mod of a forum though, this is what I would do.

We all know who to blame. If order would have been restored with the conception of the Manifesto.. to the people who really needed it, this wouldn't have happened. Next time Mod, just ban the people who complain and you'll be in good shape for the next run of clicky's.

It's gotten 'dead' before and probably will again. It appears that the only reason some had for coming here was to see what could be stirred up - and got more than a little nasty about it. When the other find out that they can stop in and say 'Hi' without getting jumped on, more will come back.

The drop in classifieds from Feb 2007 was due to the switchover from BuyBelowCost. We transferred over the BBC membership to the new Pluba system and in the process extended the BBC ads for 1 year on the Pluba site. Those grandfathered ads all expired on Oct 2007, thus the reason for the marked drop in classifieds on October 17th 2007, the expiration day.

The ads on the classifieds today are much more active and current than the old BBC, and they get far more distribution across the internet than the BBC ads did.

But, nice to know you are keeping track, although I have no idea why.
