When you try one of those bananas let me know if they taste like they do in the stores. Bananas don't grow here.

welcome Sheltieluvr,

I will do that. I was wondering today if they would taste like they do in the stores or better, that is if they live. I have no luck with plants. We had a watermelon vine here a few months back that was doing great, all these little watermelons started growing and then by the time they hit an inch long, they would die and fall off the vine.

One day I noticed there was one hidden amongest the leaves that was growing. I checked it daily. After three weeks it was still there and as big as a baseball. I was sooooo excited. Then one morning I woke up and checked on my one lonely watermelon and the bugs got it. Frown

Tonight, I went to look at my Banana's and my loving Grandkids, {have I mentioned my motto is; "Beat the Children'} played Pinata {and yes that is spelt right, I looked it up!LOL} with one of my Banana Shoots! Eek I guess they got bored with the Banana's as they attacked the cactus plant too! livid Ya they are grounded to their rooms tomorrow after school and the next day they will be cleaning the yard, with me Master Sargent Grandma! Tee hee hee, I get to Beat the Children!

But I did get a picture of the Banana's before they became a Pinata. Funnier yet is I got a great Idea from america funny home video last night. They want a Pinata, I will give them one on the next grandchild birthday, rotflol filled with carrots, celery, radish and brocoli!!!

Well I gotta go write a blog about Holly's escape from the yard today!

I saw that on America's funniest videos too. Thought that was so funny.

We have grown watermelon and cantaloupe in our garden in the past. Hint: DO NOT plant cantaloupe close to onions. We had cantaloupe that tasted like onions, no kidding. It was so gross. It was only like 3 of them, all the others we actually really really good. We learned after that to plant onions by themselves all alone. lol

Do you know how funny that would be to invite people you are not particularly fond of over and serve them cantaloupe that tastes like onion. Especially if they are the type of people that insist on being polite no matter what. They would eat it and say Mmmmm this is really good and doing the polite thing they would eat it all.

Those are the type of people that once they get in their cars and can be honest will just sit and talk about how gross it really was. All while you sit in the house laughing at how dumb they are for #1 eating it, #2 talking about it after wards.

Crap the visual on that was funnier then reading it.

That would be funny. You should of seen our faces when we first tried it. We looked at each other like WTH! It tasted like a juicy onion. Could you imagine dicing up cantaloupe and putting it in meals??? Or making onion rings with it? Then serving it?

OMG, How about: You have a hugh cookout for all your friends. Make Hamburgs on the grill. When someone requests Onion on their burger you start slicing up a cantaloupe, while asking if they would prefer their onion sliced or diced. LMAO

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry had to eat mutton and kept hiding it in his coat pocket so he wouldn't offen the host when nobody was looking. Elaine (for some reason) wore his coat home and got chased by a gang of dogs all the way home... rotflol

Ck, since you mentioned Seinfeld I have to tell you. I was watching it tonight and it was the Bobka episode. I never knew what a Bobka was so I looked it up. I thought about ordering it but some places they are $40 a loaf. I may just have to order one to see what it tastes like. Have you ever had one? There is recipes but if I screw it up I wouldn't know because I don't know what it should taste like to begin with.

NO! I have no idea what a Bobka is and I have always wondered about it too! That's funny. Must be good though at that price. I think it's something Jewish, but I honestly am not sure.

It's a sweet bread with chocolate swirled into it. When you roll the dough out you sprinkle chocolate on it then roll it up, then twist it before putting it in the pan to rise. There are a few different recipes, some have fruit, cinnamon and such. But the most popular is the chocolate. Some of the places to order them they even mention that episode of Seinfeld. Plus they also talk about the black and white cookies. One place was $59 a dozen for the black and white cookies, plus shipping. I had to sit and reread it as I thought it was a typo but that is what it was. That's like $5 a cookie. I don't think I am curious enough to try those.
Here is the black and white cookie

Whooooaaa, I've always wondered about those too (the black/white cookie). They look/sound awesome but $5 each? They'd better be extremely awesome to cost that much. But it IS New York afterall. They pay out the nose for just about everything. Thanks for the link.

My sons dad is from New York City. I just asked him (my son) if he ever had Bobka or the black and white cookie and he said he had and they were both good. He goes every summer and what I hear the most about is how big the slices of pizza are and how everyone folds it to eat it. He loves pizza so he is in heaven to eat New York style pizza. I may just have him bring me back a black and white cookie next time he goes.
