Just wanted to show off my new whelping box my hubby made for us. The inside is all vinyl so easy clean up 
He raised the floor a little making it easier on his old wife's back and added a door. He even installed a night light plus cut in holes for outlets for pad warmers and its on rollers YES!!!! Thanks Bill for taking such good care of all your girls..MM

Thats like staying at a 5 star hotel. Very nice, he did a good job. So many things added to it to make it convenient.

Thanks I love the door so she can come in and out as she pleases. But as we all know those first few weeks can be messy so its good to have them in one place.MM
It also got the Maddie(Not to be confused with Queen Maddie)seal of approval.. MM

as i remember in the old days every breeder had awhelping box and to have them near your bed to make sure the little ones are safe and the mother doesnt lay on them and its so much better than bending over i have a shar pei shes so sweet no trouble i hear that they get skin conditions i would like any information on them thanks

For the actual birthing I always used a cardboard box. Small enough for the queen to brace herself during contractions but large enough to rest and nurse the newborns for about 12 hours, before throwing away.
Are you having kittens?
Some are here because they hope to make a difference, others like to roll around in the feces. You'll be able to "sniff them out" in no time. -DJ's Doxies,

It doesn't look like fayep is going to post a response. Maybe she uses cardboard boxes for her cats.
Your whelping box is beautiful and seems very functional- it certainly is one of the nicest I have seen.

Absolutely not. We used nice cardboard boxes for puppers at one time (and before my daughter and her now x-friend) built a nice little contraption on wheels (even).
Now we don't have little puppers anymore it has gone to another breeder pal for her brood bitches to use.
Cardboard boxes in reality are only good for small critters. Wouldn't it be terrible to have to tell your critters when they have aged that they were born in a "box"? ....... 
, which reminds me of Phoebe on an old "Friends" episode with her Rat babies in a shoe box...lol.
Previously, I was only stating what I thought fayep might be using....and I see there has been no word from her as yet.

Absolutely not. We used nice cardboard boxes for puppers at one time (and before my daughter and her now x-friend) built a nice little contraption on wheels (even). Now we don't have little puppers anymore it has gone to another breeder pal for her brood bitches to use. Cardboard boxes in reality are only good for small critters.
