Can anyone guess who wrote this? -mod ---------------------------------
As of 02 17 2006 I weigh 308 lbs and I started this walk at approximately 410 lbs so the answer is obviously 102 lbs. Now for the hard part, so what!
I have learned that there is a debilitating process that occurs with obesity and that is number obsession. Now granted losing 102 lbs is significant and important, but dwelling on a number or becoming a slave to a scale is a surefire way to fail at weightloss.
So now, with my experiences on this walk, I have learned to judge my health not by a scale of weight but by a scale of mental harmony. Once you accept that you are in control of your life and weight, then lose the obsessive tendencies and work on curing the emotional base of the weight problem you will find that the body will take care of itself.

Hiya Mod :-)
That sounds like Steve Vaught. He was 410 (wow...) when he started walking (kind of like Forrest Gump kept running and running) from his home in San Diedo, CA in efforts to lose weight. Last I heard, he was about 500 or 600 miles from New York and had lost approx. 175 lbs!! You can probably Google his name for more info.
