OK i am a diet pepsi freak! I am coming out and admitting it in public! so starting today i have been drinking water "yuk" might I add, but i know it is good for me so I am going to start with 2 8oz glasses today and try to add a bit more everyday until I have weened myself off of diet pepsi. I have been doing alot of reading about diet soda's and pretty much everything i keep reading tells me it actually can cause you to GAIN weight.
Oh yeah forgot to mention, although I love water, I do not find myself drinking that often. I usually consume most of my liquids when I am exercising because that is usually the only time I find myself being thirsty.
I try to drink the recommended amount a day (by way of 2 big 64 oz. cup fulls). It's easy once you get used to it, I confess I was once a soda person myself (I love orange soda, but cannot stand cola of any kind/brand), but I've had to stop drinking soda.

I am a soda freak also. I prefer Pepsi. Diet Coke is ok, for a diet drink.
I have been drinking a ton of water lately. I don't even keep soda in the house anymore. If I am out at a restaurant, I will order soda, but that's the only time I allow myself to have it. I really don't miss it all that much.
As for flavored water, I really love Propel Fitness Water by Gatorade. I like lemon flavor. It is really good. I will drink that on occasion, but I usually stick to plain water.

Water..... ah...... I love water. Of course in Maine we have Poland Spring Water coming right out of the tap. I also like naturally flavored sparkling water - no calories, no caffeine, no sodium. I used to be a soft drink fiend, but it tastes awful to me now. To answer your question, I drink about 8 glasses a day - that's pretty much all I ever drink except for tea.

Same here LL. I drink LOTS of water and/or iced tea. I try to stay away from soft drinks too. I used to drink a 12 pack of diet pepsi/coke every couple of days, but now a 12 pack will last me a couple of weeks, which is still too much but much better than it used to be. I don't like the taste as much as I used to either. Maybe I'm just getting old....

I have read that for every glass of Coca~Cola one drinks, about 30 glasses of water are needed to rehydrate and flush your body back to what it should be! That is a scary thought when you consider how many people drink lots of pop. I gave it up years ago and have felt so much better gettin that garbage out of my system. It is tuff at first but after awhile its easy!!
One thing that might help is this: most people have a bad balance of bad bacteria in their intestinal tracts. That bacteria craves sugar and so makes you crave it. So to remedy this, stop ingesting so much sugar and replenish your "good bacteria". The health implications of good bacteria in there are ENORMOUS. Start eating yogurt with live cultures, or even easier, take some supplements. I have found GARDEN OF LIFE to be the best source out there. All organic stuff and they make something called "Primal Defense" that is loaded with all the good bacteria in it. You WILL notice when you starting taking these a "detox" taking place. And you will not crave sugar as much as the good bacteria doesnt feed on it. The best result though will be a healthy colon and intestines which will help prevent cancer and other issues. It has been said that "death begins in the colon" and that up to 30 lbs of waste can be found in humans when they day. Its no wonder they get sick with all that toxic stuff in there!! I wouls suggest 2 books, "Patient, heal thyself" and "Makers diet". Both by Jordan Rubin and similar in content. They are a real eye opener!! Well sorry to ramble, this was about water lol. DRINK LOTS OF WATER!! (but not tap water with chlorine as that kills good bacteria!!lol)

I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and have done so for years. There are days that I can't stand water though, so I perk it up with a lime, lemon, or orange slice. That helps. I still drink a regular or diet soda, crystal light, or even sugar-free Koolaid from time to time, but I try to stay away from it. Iced Tea is good too, but it seems to make me thirsty. Go figure.
I drink at least an ounce a day for every pound that I am. since the body is 3/4 water, it makes sense to me to give it as much fresh water as I can. An ounce per pound per day? hly cow, that's a gallon for anybody who weighs 132 punds. That's right!! Now, for an interesting insight. If you carefully measure the amount of water that you drink and compare it to the amount of urine---- you are likely to discover that you **** less than half of what you drink. That being the case--- the rest is perspiration. The more water you drink, the less stinky the sweat.
I do continue to drink Pepsi 1 (which is diet) but usually only 1 a day unless I'm driving a long way. (Some days I drive 300+ miles for work). I drink a lot of the flavored bottled water from Wal Mart and our regional grocer HEB. But since last July, I've become hooked on Topo Chico, a spring water from Mexico. It also comes in lime flavor, but everything does down here. I drink up to 1 1/2 liters of that every day.

Good for you, indi! Hopefully you didn't have to go through the DT's too much. lol
When ya'll say you drink iced tea, do you mean sweetened or unsweetened?? I recently went to Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Colorado.None of these places have sweet tea, I was actually surprised. Down South whenever you go in ANY restuarant they push sweet tea on you like its crack, I will truly miss it when we move up North next month!!
But my downfall will be Mountain Dew since thats the only softdrink I drink, actually the only drink other than my sweet tea. I have heard it is bad for you so I will have to find a new healthier drink up North. You guys just suggest water with lemon??
When we lived in Milwaukee, my son and I were in a dentist's waiting room, and a mother and teenage daughter came in. The teenager was crying her head off....I felt really sorry for her, because she seemed like one of those "cool" kids that didn't like to lose their "cool". So I know she was embarrassed, but she couldn't help herself.
Dr. took her as an emergency patient before us. Her mom stayed out in the waiting room and after about 10 or 15 minutes, Doctor came out, and told her that her daughter admitted to cutting out of school everyday at lunch to go to the corner gas station for a Mountain Dew with her friends.
He told her that the Mountain Dew was literally eating her teeth, and the tooth that was hurting was going to have to be capped or removed, several others were on the verge of rotting. Seriously, this kid was only 15 at the OLDEST. I'm a (hate to say it) middle age (although barely ) mother, who was wearing flared jeans the FIRST time they were in style, and I've never had anything worse than a filling.
My son was about 8 years old at the time. It impacted (no pun intended) him so much that he NEVER drinks Dew, and hardly EVER drinks pop at all. The only pop I'll drink is Fresca, and that's only about 3-4 every week and a half to two weeks. A 12-pack lasts me over a month.
I said that to say this----GET OFF OF THE POP! ESECIALLY MOUNTAIN DEW!!! If it does that to your teeth, which are ---hello----BONES---what's it doing to our gooey, porous, INSIDES? So I'm glad to see that my friends are giving it up, and kicking the habit. Job well done, indi!
BTW--sweetened tea IS only down south. Imagine my surprise when I COULDN'T get a blasted PLAIN tea in Tennessee. They looked at me like I had two heads!
I had never had a cavity in my life until I became pregnant with my son. I went to the dentist because of a terrible pain in one tooth, when I got there I found out half the tooth had come out due to a cavity while I was eating pizza. They ended up taking the whole tooth, a couple of years later they took another one for the same reason. I started drinking Dew about two years before I got pregnant, I always thought it was because I was pregnant that my teeth got so bad, now I know it was the Dew. I have got to break this somehow, and without my tea I just don't know, guess I'll have to do the water thing, although I hate it. I like lots of flavor!
My husband is a Mt. Dew freak also. I don't get it. I hate the stuff. Been trying to get him off of it for years, and so has his doctors. Mt. Dew is one of the WORST soda's you can drink. It has more caffiene than most. It's nasty stuff.
