Mustang Easy keepers. Good strong little horses with history. Started by some of the best horse breeds in the world and then fashioned by mother nature.
Mine is the Appaloosa, I love the history, I love the reason they were bred, I love the color and the spots. The attitude is amusing, and they are so faithful. I just all-around love the breed. They are awesome horses with a rich history. They were nearly extinct and came back after many many years as one of the top most popular breeds today. They are a strong breed. Gotta love the spots!!! (Shhhh, don't tell Dal's)
My favorite BREED are Quarter Horses. Generally easy going and can step it up when asked. They can do ALMOST any discipline and do it well. But I dealt with many different breeds and love them ALL!!( o.k, there are a few individual exceptions, but they didn't like me first! )

Amusing is one way to put it!! Honery might be another?? And you gotta admit, if they ain't beautiful, they are USUALLY uuuuuggggllyyyy!! But even so , gotta love Appys too!!!
Now, now, touchy are we??Usually a sign the truth hurts! Now, let's set a good example and have none of that bashing amongst us horsey people! BTW, you are mad cause I am right!
I love the stock horse breed (Quarters, Paints, apps) But I have had Tennesee walkers and a Morab mare once. She was a nut case but man she was gorgeous. Right now I have the 2 apps. My mare is a non characteristic bay and the gelding is a totally app looking buckskin with a blanketed rear that you cannot see with his winter coat...but once he sheds he's nice. I'm looking for and may have found a loud stud for my mare. Hoping to get a few colored babies out of her. She should have been shown halter I think but the former owner didn't have the time to do it. She is still only green broke at 6 (maybe 7) yrs old. I'd have to look at her papers to see her age LOL.
It's a dog eat dog world, and I am wearing milkbone underwear!...unknown.

Cm, what bloodline is your mare?I myself, am not familiar with many appy lines. But talk to Kinzel-She is a walking bloodline encyclopedia!! We've had several 'Plaudit' apps, all sweet natured and beautiful.
Appaloosa - I also love the temperament. I like the fiesty nature of an App...lol. My old mare Fancy was a bitch and a man hater...but she adored me and I her. Broke my heart when I lost her.
Paint - who couldn't love a flashy B&W...or anything & white...lol. Tobianos, overos, toveros...I love 'em all!
The one breed I absolutely LOVE but I'm afraid I'll never be able to afford one is the...
Fresian
Never have I seen a more powerful, yet elegant breed of horse. Very noble and awe-inspiring just watching them! If I could afford one, I have him or her in a heartbeat! The only word that can escape my mouth when face to face with one is WOW!

HB, me and AMUSED are with you on the Fresian deal, although I think she likes them more than me, but I would love to own and ride one!
My favorite pattern of the paints are the frame overos, black and white, of course I do like the sorrels, not so much in QH, maybe cause their so common but on a paint if its splashy I love the red with the white, its so pretty!
I want to get a nice black blanketed App. with the small spots I like the smaller spots on most app's, gotta love the leapords!!

If I get a chance I'll post a pic of Summer. She is my black Appy. Well, she is actually a grade horse. Her mother was Appy and her father is a TB. I got her when she was 3 weeks old from a nursemare farm.
She is big and streamlined like the TB, but she has the sclera and and small to moderate blanket with some spots.
I had bred my old gal Fancy several years back to a Red leapord and had a beautiful red leapord colt. I placed him though because he wound up being small. I had him gelded and sold him to a riding school. He topped out at 14.1 and they taught him to drive as well. I got a Christmas card last year and he is doing well with driving competitions and with being a lesson horse. The one little girl who rides him in the jumping classes has done really well with him. So I'm very proud!

Here is a pic of my Appy Mini. He is not in show condition to say the least. No lunging, no sweating, no nothing. He was shedding out the wooly coat minis get in the winter...so I gave him a bath, threw on a show halter and snapped a few pics. Didn't even body clip him to clean up all the feathering. He is al natural...lol.

I haven't won anything yet...well that isn't entirely true. I haven't showed the boys yet. I did show a few mares of mine a few years back...it was my first few shows...I've only been to 3. We did pretty well...nothing majorly grand. My bay & white mare took the color class both days and took 2nd in the amature classes. The other mare took 2nd and 3rd in the aged classes. All halter classes. I haven't attempted to do driving or jumping with them. Lots of training for that! With the dogs, I just don't have the time for that kind of training now.
There aren't really any shows but the Area I show that is within a decent driving distance from me Many of them are in horseheads, NY...and that is way too far for me to go. I can't afford a trainer to train them and take them on the road with them...so I'm just venturing into myself as best I can. So we will see I guess. I may wind up not breeding or showing anymore if I really can't get to the shows...what's the point right? But I'll always have some of my lil horses...could be without them

My first pony was a POA, won a halter class at the World Show, not sure if he was a yearling or a two year old, it was the year I was born lol.
My first horse is a Buckskin Quarter Horse. Sire was State HOY 5 times. I've posted pics of him before.
My favorite breed is the Thoroughbred. Although a relatively "new" breed, there is so much history that comes with it. The track is an awesome environment(no so much for a kid or anything...) but you meet all kinds of characters there. The racing is electric, the views are amazing, the emotions always run, it's a place where broke gamblers rub elbows with billionaires(literally.) When you study pedigrees you can trace and make a mental picture where each and every horse in a race comes from. It's quite awesome.
My favorite breed is one of the oldest: the Arabian. I have always loved them for their beauty and versatility and their afinity for people. Some Arabs can be flighty but most are just high spirited (that's why they're called hotbloods). We currently have 2, a 7 yr old OTT chestnut gelding, and a 24yr old retired showhorse that fell on hard times and we got from a rescue.
Oh, my second favorite breed is the Appaloosa as that was my first horse. But right now I'm looking at draft crosses for my husband who's 6'2" and 269lbs.
