pviejo, have you tried a change in diet with a good natural type of dog food that has a higher content of fish oil in it? I have Frenchies and they are prone to the itchies and I know a change in food can mean all the difference in the world!

My experience is with Westies and the public in general. There are even groomers who create this problem. I suggest trying to change shampoo. Please don't use Joy dishwashing to get rid of fleas? This is a degreaser. I sugest Dr Bronner's shampoo this has olive oil in it. I have used it and it is great! Don't let a Vet put your dog on steroids! Even groomers create these problems. I suggest you carry your own shampoo with your dogs name on it. you need to replace the oil the shampoo washes away.

at walmart, you can get this liquid stuff, not sure of the brand, but it's with the dog collars and it's called skin and coat. You just add a bit to the doggie's diet and after a week or so, you'll see a noticeable improvement in her skin. I have the same problem with my little doggie and that works really well and it's about $4...not too expensive.....hope this helps

I was a groomer. All the grooming salons I have worked for used high quailty shampoo. Petco was one were you could pick out a med. shampoo (has a tar base good for sores or to soothe skin if the dogs has flea bites" or one with a tea tree oil "it acts as an antspetic and condtions skin. 1st put your dog on a flea program advantage or frontline are the best. I would avoid Biospot "had some real problems with some dogs and biospot for dogs will kill your cat. One little flea bite can drive a dog with tender skin nuts. Then get a good shampoo as mentioned above. Lastly and most important is diet take your dog off a diet with wheat and or corn. This seems to help the most. Try to get a dog food that uses human grade products. By caring for your dog outside and inside your problems should stop.
