If you really want to see a stunning house, check out Carson Mansion in Eureka, CA.
It's now owned by a private club, but it will pretty much take your breath away when you first come upon it.

In Abbeville,SC, about 5 min from where I lived, there were all kinds of old houses, it was the prettiest place ever. In town they had all the small old time shops that lined the road, and at the square it is a brick drive, the whole thing is old brick. Its awesome!

The history of the mansion is also very interesting.
I had spent a weekend in town, and stayed at a nearby hotel in range of the mansion.
It's even more incredible when you see it in person.

Thanks :-) I lived in Mill Valley, CA when little; haven't been back in far too long. I found more on this beauty here: http://www.eureka-california.com/ It's rumored that there's a 'female' jazz afficianado who occasionally put jazz records on the phonograph that seems to 'play by itself.' Did you hear any? :-)
