Boyd, who I've mentioned a couple of times, passed away at about noon today. History he came with said he was 12. He had been left in a vet's office in Texas. He'd had a fractured skull, broken ribs, and a dislocated hip. They felt he had been beaten because of the ribs - they were displaced out - like he had been kicked from about 3/4 behind him. He had mended when I got him, but he wasn't expected to live more than a couple of months - that was 3 1/2 years ago.
he had the cutest habit - when I went to bed he would come up and very gently kiss my cheek and then go to the foot of the bed and lay down. He scared me near to death the first time he did it.
I'll miss him and his odd noises.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Take comfort in the fact that you gave him a good life for that 3 1/2 years. He sounds like he was a great dog and he will always be in your heart.

Mimi, I am so sorry for your loss. Boyd sounds like he was a real sweetheart. You have such a good memory of his touching habit of kissing you. Try to dwell on that happy thought.
So sorry to hear about your loss..Try to concentrate on the good years you had together..And from one puglover to another, THANKS for opening your home and heart to this little one...Donna
Its amazing how the rescues turn out to be the ones that touch us beyond words. I think those kisses came from a little guy thanking you for helping him. Brings tears to my eyes just to think of it. I have noticed here lately with my rescue Boxer (Brandy) things are getting different. The last 3 nights I have laid a blanket in the floor and slept with her. Her rear legs are begining to fail. She is 10 going on 11 in a few months. So yes, I can feel your lose cause I am seeing Brandy slowly fade.

He had been fading for about a month. For the past week I have been handfeeding him. I'd just sit and scratch his ears - he like that.
He was a 'talker' with a full range of odd noises. He could bark but didn't very often. Everytime someone new moved into the neighborhood I'd get a visit from the police - they thought it was funny, but had to check it out. He was reported as a baby crying, a goat stuck in a fence, somebody yelling 'ouch', a lady screaming. He wasn't loud - it was always reported as being in the distance. All you had to do was talk to him, and he would talk back. I found out because one of the girls at work is married to one of the officers, and she mentioned these odd calls where nothing could be found.
