I just got a parent raised tiel yesterday from Pet Smart and it is as tame as if i had it a month. When i went to the cage in the store the tiel just ran right up to me and started climbing the cage bars.

Congrats on your new bird, But I would have to say that you got lucky. Birds from pet stores are not known for being friendly.
