The reason I ask is I have been bottle raising 6 ( had 8 but lost 2) Sheltie mix puppies. Mother was a purebred Sheltie(I seen her) & was told dad was a sheltie mix( did not see him, just going by what was told to the vet). 3 of the pups are black & white The males are predominitly blacck & tan but 1 has a naturally docked tail( had 1 other pup w a docked tail but she didnt make it,a lil sable girl). These pups just turned a month on the 27th & are starting to screen prospective new homes but everyone keeps asking any idea of what the mix is on the father esp considering the docked tail. So any help or suggestions would be appreciated.Going to get updated pics up soon...last ones I have were @ 2 weeks.

Australian Shepherds can have naturally docked tails. I dont know any others, but am sure there are some. With Aussies being so close in temperment to Shelties, I am sure the potential adopters would be happy to hear they are possible Sheltie/Aussie mixes ... so that is what I would stick with
I just went and looked at the pictures of the pups ... can Border Collies have natuarally docked tails? They kinda look like border collie mixes with their coloring. Who knows ... they sure are cute! You did a great job with them! I have had a tough time bottle feeding one pup ... cant imagine 8!!!
