It does look like it could be hairless, hard to tell as the pic is too far away. I agree with RB if there is hair probably not CC, but if there isn't hair, could have CC mix in it.
Saving just one animal won't change the world, but it will change HIS world!

No, hairless is recessive, so it would take two hairless genes to cause this. More likely if it is bald, and I dont think it is, it is due to autoimmune issues or allergies or mange. Also, there is more than one hairless breed. There are several. Most are even more rare than the CC, and therefore I would say not a chance that they are mixed in with this dog. Hes just a mutt, plain and simple. Calling him a CC is just a way to get someone stupid to adopt him...someone ignorant of what a CC is.
I emailed them and so we will see what they say when they email back. i told them they shouldn't decieve the public thinking this dog is a purebred anything when you can tell by the pic he is a terrier mix.
By the way RB, I had no idea how the hairless gene works, that is why I thought maybe he could be hairless with terrier, but if it takes 2 parents than what I said is wrong.

Oh, please do let us know when/if you get a reply back...and yes, maybe they do have the wrong pic.
Honestly, I highly doubt many dogs would be CC mixes...its just not that popular of a breed. BTW, it takes both dogs to either display or carry hairless and be bred to one that displays or carries it to produce hairless...thus the likelyhood of a CC mix actually being bald is slim to none, unless there is a colony of them inbreeding somewhere...highly unlikely.
Too many times I have seen rescues and humane societies try to call a dog a certain breed just to help it sell...not sure how I feel about that, I mean, if it helps them get a good home...but on the other hand...deceiving the ignorant general public bothers me!
Not a chance looks more like an Airdale Terrier to Me it might have crested or another hairless dog in it unless it is just shaved that way but probably not & being in rescue it could have been picked up off the streets and pinned chinese crested on it
Years ago I had a pure-bred Papillon with a tattoo on Her stomach My BF now X at that time opened the door and let the dog out on purpose
I phoned the Animal control to see if they picked it up they said no 5 strait days in a row I was told No
I went down there on the 5th day to see and sure enough the dog was there from day 1 with the tattoo in pplain site on tummy she was Canadian CKC Reg'd and the ideots claimed She was a Collie Terrier mix shows what They know
so knowone may actually know this breed of dog at all oh and the hairless gene in the Chinese Crested is DOMINANT and some people do get hairless dogs out of only 1 parent being and carrying the hairless gene believe it or not YES they have & no it wasn't Me either all of My Cresteds are all Canadian CKC Reg'd I have it no other way

Well, open mouth, insert foot! My apologies, I thought it(hairlessness) was a simple recessive...guess I should have researched before I opened my mouth. Sorry!

the hairless gene is a lethal gene. if a pup get 2 then it dies inutro (sp) or soon after it is born. that is why puffs are aloud in the breed.
