Do any of you own a Shetland Pony? I had two when I was a little girl. I would like to have one again someday. They lived to be very old. I remember them pulling a little horse buggy with me in it!

MJ...I had one when I was a child. My dad bought her from a friend of his for me. She was a circus pony, so she did tricks and was very smart. She used to unlock the gate and just walk out...she would visit the neighbors. We lived in the desert and she blended in with the sage brush, so if she wanted not to be found, you couldn't see her. She was great and I really loved her. We moved a few years later and my parents sold her to a friend for their kids. Her name was Penny and she was my first horse (pony). I really wish my kids could have a pony like her...she was the best.
I miss my shetland Molly.I had to put her down only 5 years ago.She was between 35-40 years old.I had her for twelve years.I got her for one hundred dollars when I was ten as a friend for my gelding. She would do anything I asked of her and she gave many first lessons to children. She could jump fences that were honestly over her head, and this was at age twenty something. She had no mean bone in her and was loving until the end when I let her go.Boy did that girl teach me about staying on a galloping, fat, round, pony bareback. Now I have a morab(my first horse),a percheron, and three minis.A good Shetland is,for sure, worth their weight in gold.
