I'm putting this over here because of all the junk being thrown around in Breeder's Corner. This is in reference to a comment by BarB that Ultrasound's don't lie.

Sometimes Ultrasound's do lie! They have to be backed up by another test!!! My daughter had one done on her kidneys when she was 3 - it showed that one kidney was almost totally nonfunctional and the other was severely damaged! Said she probably wouldn't live to be 5 without a transplant! Nsame on the list and all - she looked perfectly healthy. Had an IVP done as almost an afterthought - there was nothing wrong with her at all!! All the heartbreak had been for nothing. Never take the word of one test - even if it's repeated.

I concur.
No tests are always 100% on the mark.
Second and third opinions/testings always good advice.

Second opinions are always a good idea - especially on a life altering issue - be it for youself, your kids, or your furkids.

AmPugs, you always keep me on my toes! Thanks for replying with your experience. I just wish it would have turned out to be the same for Jazz but after having the ultrasound done, the chest x-ray, and the EKG it was there as plain as the nose on my face. I am doing some further checking in the future because I still have 3 of her pups from that litter that was said to all have the same defect. Max being the only breedable offspring of hers will be going through the same tests in the next couple of months just to verify if it was passed or not. If not (and I am crossing my fingers) I would like to use him with one litter of puppies to start my next generation. If he does pass clear of SAS then he will have his hips tested and other testings from there. Wish me luck but I don`t expect the results to be any different. So glad things worked out for you and your daughter...

The one dead give away for Jazz was when you listen to her heart it goes shhhhh at the end of each beat...

I do have one question? Is an ultrasound and a sonagram (not sure of spelling) the same thing? Jazz had an ultrasound on her heart. I had a sonagram or mamogram done. Which one do they use for babies?

BarB - As close as I can find - a sonogram is a type of ultrasound. It uses more than one sound source to give a better picture. Ultrasound only uses one source - like during pregnancy check.
Jazz has a murmur, then. Does Max? From what I read the murmur should be there if the valve is leaking.

Jazz definately has subaortic stenosis. Only thing is sometimes you can hear the murmur (by stethscope) and sometimes you can`t. Jazz was the only one that went through extensive testing. The other 3 pups (which are Zeus, Max, and Bodie) were all said to have it but they couldn`t here it on Bodie or Zeus which are my whites. Bodie shows the worst of the condition cause when he runs his tongue can turn different shades from blood red to purple/gray. Zeus well you know all about him. Max shows no signs at all and they diagnosed him on a scale of 1/6 just by stethoscope. Jazz was 3/6. I just want to know if it actually was passed to the pups so being that Max is the only one that isn`t altered I would like to have him checked just to verify one way or the other. If it shows him clear of this defect then I want Max to be the one to start my next generation. I know I`m holding my breath but I so hope it didn`t pass...if it did then no pups from him...
