If anyone knows could they post a response with the same subject as mine please. I was wondering if it is normal for puppies to dream a lot. I just recently bought a 11 month old chocolate lab, and throughout the night she cries, whimpers, growls, barks, shakes and moves profusely. Is this normal?

She might have come from a bad background. But then she might also just be dreaming random dreams. The dreaming is normal, but (this may sound silly) maybe take her to a pet psychic?

Ignore that post from Kerack. She knows nothing about animals, except rats. She isn't qualified to give anyone advice.
As for the puppies dreaming a lot, yes it is quite normal. Now some people say not to wake them up when they whimper and cry, but I usually do. It seems to me they are having a nightmare, much like us humans do, so I wake them up. I have had lots of puppies as I do rescue work and get lots of puppies from time to time. It has nothing to do with where they came from or anything like that. A puppy "runs" in his sleep and that is a sign of a normal puppy. If a puppy is inactive, then you should worry. The growling and barking thing in my opinin is the puppy dreaming about playing. That's exactly how my pups dream also. To wake up the pup, you can just call them by name. That usually calms them. Much like waking up a person from a bad dream. Some breeders will disagree about waking the pup, but I always do if I hear them.
I hope I've helped to answer your question. I like your pen name...cool
It's cute when they twitch their little paws. My fat cat snores really loud when she sleeps, and she'll let out tiny meow like noises in her sleep. I always wonder if she ever dreams of her past, I sure hope she doesn't.

Puppy breath, there's no way to tell what they're dreaming of, it very well could be their past. You don't know that, so don't say I'm not 'certified' to give my information, you're just jealous of the attention.
