HI, WE HAVE A NEW PAPILLON PUPPY, HE'S 10 WEEKS OLD. WHEN WE GOT HIM HOME HE STRATED COUGHING AND SNEZZING. TOOK HIM TO OUR VET AND HE HAS KENNEL COUGH. OUR VET PUT HIM ON ANTIBIOTICS. DOSEN'T SEEM LIKE HE'S GETTING MUCH BETTER THOUGH THE MEDICINE IS ALMOST GONE. I READ WHERE THERE IS SHOTS FOR IT BUT OUR VET DIDN'T GIVE HIM HIM ONE. WANDERING IF I SHOULD TAKE HIM BACK TO THE VET OR SEE IF IT RUNS IT'S COUSRE AND GOES AWAY? I HAD NEVER HEARD OF KENNEL COUGH UNTILL WE TOOK HIM TO THE VET. WE TOOK OUR 2 YEAR OLD TOY POODLE WITH US TO GET OUR NEW PUPPY AND THEY WERE PLAYING WITH EACH OTHER BEFORE I FOUND OUT THE PUP HAD KENNEL COUGH. WHEN WE TOOK THE NEW PUPPY TO THE VET SHE TOLD US KENNEL COUGH WASN'T CONTAGIOUS TO OTHER DOGS BUT I READ ABOUT IT AND FOUND OUT IT'S VERY CONTAGIOUS TO OTHER DOGS SO I HAVE KEPT THEM SEPERATED. GREAT! PROBABLY TO LATE. OUR TOY POODLE HAS TONSILLITIS AND HAS BEEN TAKING ANTIBIOTICS ON AND OFF FOR THAT UNTILL WE FIND OUT IF HE NEEDS TO HAVE THEM REMOVED. NOW I'M VERY WORRIED ABOUT HIM IF HE WOULD GET SICK WITH KENNEL COUGH ON TOP OF BEING SICK WITH TONSILLITIS. WANDERING IF I NEED TO FIND A NEW VET AND TAKE BOTH OF THEM IN?

VT, just a side note, when you use all capital letters in a post, it makes others think that you are angry or yelling. Bad form. Hit your caps key, and leave it off.

No biggie.

There are so many strains of Bordatella that you cannot vaccinate for all of them. Many folks use Robitussin with dogs who have KC, myself included.

Like TR stated use a cough syrup to minimize coughing and just let it run its course, it will go away on its own. If it gets so severe that the puppy starts gagging and puking, then I would seek the advice of a vet, a competent one.
