I would try looking in a DogWorld magazine for breeders in your area, you can also try a breed search on the internet, that should turn up a list of breeders in your area.

When you email these breeders ask the following questions if they are not already answered on the site:

1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BREEDING THIS BREED OF DOGS?

2. HOW MANY LITTERS DO YOU PRODUCE A YEAR?

3. WHERE DO YOUR DOGS LIVE? IN THE HOUSE OR IN A KENNEL?

4. ARE YOU INVOLVED IT A BREED CLUB FOR YOUR BREED?

5. ARE YOU INVOLVED IN BREED RESCUE FOR YOUR BREED?

6. CAN I MEET THE SIRE AND DAM OF THE PUPPY?

7. IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE SIRE, CAN I CONTACT HIS OWNERS?

8. HAVE THESE PUPPIES BEEN SOCIALIZED? ARE THEY HANDLED? EXPLAIN YOUR PROCESS OF DOING SO.

9. DO YOU HAVE REFERENCES FROM YOUR VET, GROOMER, OR PEOPLE THAT HAVE PURCHASED PUPPIES FROM YOU?

10. WHAT IS THE HEALTH GUARANTEE YOU OFFER WITH THIS PUPPY?

11. WHAT ARE THE HEALTH PROBLEMS THIS BREED HAS?

12. CAN YOU TELL ME THE TRAITS OF THIS BREED? ARE THEY A ACTIVE BREED? WHAT IS THE PERSONALITY OF THE BREED? GOOD FAMILY DOG?

13. HAS THE SIRE AND DAM BEEN HEALTH CHECKED & CERTIFIED TO BE CLEAR OF THE BREED PROBLEMS? WAS THIS DONE BEFORE BREEDING?

14. ARE THE SIRE AND DAM REGISTERED, AND WITH WHOM?

15. WILL YOU TAKE THE DOG BACK IF, AT ANY TIME DURING ITS LIFE, I CAN NO LONGER CARE FOR IT?
