Hi-My first one was a nasty blk pony that my dad had bought for me.Well, now I've done,rodeos,trails,parades,gymkhana-I used to own 10 head now i'm down to 6 and the 7th one on the way.I have 3-Reg.Paints,2-QH,and Tenn.walker mare.My favorite is the walker and she is now retired and it sure is a switch for me to ride.I miss the smooth rides.I did the same on her as I did the QH and the Paints we had.Even team penning and barrels, cattle work. They are just smoother- Smile

Hi, I just bought my first horse about two weeks ago. He is a 3 year old paint gelding, but he looks like an appaloosa. I have loved horses all my life, but since i lived in town I could never have one. Does anyone have any idea where I could find a cheap saddle? I don't care what kind as long as there is a horn on it. I need a seat size of 14 or 15. I can't seem to find a cheap one anywhere. Thank you.

Dawn,a good place to purchase a saddle is at a horsesale or auction if you have one close to you. They sell all kinds of tack before the sale. Also check the pawnshops. In my area, they are plentiful. Good Luck!!

Hi horselover.....I've been hooked all of my life too....and I love it!!!! I'm a grammy and a nurse and I live by myself on 13.5 ac smack in the middle of Virginia....oops, I should have said that me and my 2 QH's and my one very spoiled cat live together in harmony. Anyway...I'm one of those free spirited babyboomers who'd lovin life right now and wouldn't have it any other way. I had to wait till my children were educated and on their own before I could move to the country and purchase my first horse, She was a 17 yr old barrel racer from CA...and I fell in love and found myself an instantaneous "best friend". That was 15 years ago and I can't imagine living my life w/o being able to look out my window to see my horses or to be able to open a window to call to them. Oh by the way, I only have 2 now but have had as many as 5 in the past.

Hello horse lovers> I have been a horse lover all my life. I have three horses, I ride dressage and do some jumping. During christams I rescued a quater horse colt from the meat buyers> I am hoping he will be my first reining horse> I also rescued an 18 hd tb cross. He is a talented dressage horse. If any of you are planning on buying a horse consider rescuing one from an auction. I paid 150 dollars for my colt. He is really a looker well built liver chestnut with three white socks and a star. Lots of cheaps horses going for meat in Texas. Last week horses were going for 6 cents a pound due to drought. My friend picked up two horse a buckskin mare with APHA papers 6 years old and a really loud, tall, stocky Appy gelding for less than 900 bucks. When we got them home we discoverd both horses were very broke and a beginner could ride that mare. Wish we could have saved more. A truck load of really nice horses left the auction for the packing plant"We might hate the French but we still sell them our horse meat". Any one looking to save a horse I will be going next weekend. My good friend is a 4 th year vet school student. We are planning to try to save two, but I have a four horse trailer. Just let me know.
