guess no one has any yet....have to tell one of my own......awwww........
Tug O' Tail
We have a sharpei who thinks she's the boss of all the dogs....she really is the boss, but hey, we can't let her know that. Anyway, she's so funny...my husband was carrying a rescued dog by the building that Kathy (dog) gaurds and he thought he had plenty of room to get by her. He was walking with this dog, and all of a sudden he came to a stop. He thought--what the heck is going on? He looked over and there was Kathy...she'd gotten that doggie right by the tail and wasn't about to let go. She didn't want the dog to run away. Kathy takes her gaurd job very seriously, ya know. It had to be a hilarius sight and I wish I had been there to see it. He actually had to pick up Kathy to get her to let go of the other dog. It was unreal. She didn't hurt the dog but you know that dog has never tried to escape again. Grin....please share your stories with me. Thank you!!

dezerei, that is so adorable. I wish I could have seen it!!

Are you sure you want me to start? I have several.

My most beloved of all times was my cat - Tom. Never was a cat loved more. He always wanted to be beside me - not on me, but as close as he could get otherwise. He would sit beside me and watch as I ate popcorn. When I wouldn't offer any, he would reach out his paw to swipe it out of my hand on the way to my mouth!! He loved popcorn.

We used to have one of those old claw foot tubs. Tom, always wanting to be near me, would sit or walk around the edge of the tub as I bathed. I used to aggravate him by saying, "Help me Tom, help me." He would get very upset and dip his paw into the water. He was worried and wanted to get in the tub, but didn't want to get wet. He was such a love.

At the same time that I owned Tom, I also had a tiny little Yorkie named Muffy. Tom slept at my feet and Muffy slept at my head - my husband wasn't a big fan of this sleeping arrangement. Whenever I got up to use the bathroom, both would hop out of bed with me. Tom would sit on the back of the toilet with Muffy at my feet. When I went back to bed, we all assumed our positions.

One Thanksgiving while I was preparing the Turkey, I left the room. I returned just in time to see Tom swipe the packet of Turkey parts (packed in the middle) off the counter to a waiting Muffy on the floor. They looked like they had tag teamed against me.

But, I guess the funniest scene with those two happened after I had let Tom back in the house. Tom was free to go in and out of the house. Muffy was not allowed to go out alone. When I let Tom in, Muffy immediately grabbed him somewhere along the back of the neck. She began slinging Tom back and forth. I could hear his head hitting our dryer. Here was this tiny little less than 3 pound Yorkie female beating up this 12 pound male cat. Tom was not declawed. He could easily have swiped her, but he just let her sling him around. I was standing there screaming, "She's gonna kill him." My husband came running and started laughing. Of course Tom wasn't hurt. But Muffy was sure mad that he was allowed outside and she wasn't.

Thanks! I do wish others would join. This could be a great thread!

One more loving little memory of Tom. When I would sleep later than he liked, he would take his paw and lightly tap my cheek. When that didn't work, he would put his cold nose on my face.

Tom was just special. I have never had a pet like him before or since. We have pictures of him being used as a pillow by our middle son.

Animals develope such peculiar habits, don't they?
A long time ago I had a sweet little mix breed dog named Spike. (the name was a joke) He would not lay down unless he had something to lay his head on! A shoe, a foot, a rock, a book, the newspaper, the rungs of my rocking chair...anything. But he didn't like pillows!

I also had a cat that used to use his head to knock on the door. For the longest time we thought the neighborhood kids were doing it and running away, but it was the cat. He did it when he wanted in or out. That cat NEVER meowed. I had him for 12 years and never heard him meow. The vet didn't think anything was wrong with him physically. He would purr really loud, he just never meowed.
Right now we have a cat that plays fetch. Just as good as any dog does! He will only fetch his favorite toy, it is a rabbit foot! He will not fetch the balls or little stuffed mice or wadded up paper, nothing but the rabbit foot, and he will do it as long as I want to throw it! Our other cat just watches him do it. She won't play.
Just thought I would share these few stories.

Jude, those are so cute! I can just picture little Spike with his head propped somewhere. Your cat must have been a mix - a cat/dog mix that is!!

It is funny how attached we get. I have loved many pets over the years. But Tom and I were so bonded. He was just an orange striped tabby, but he meant the world to me.

We have a Siamese named CryBaby (wonder why!!), who takes his paws and grips the brass kick plate on the front door. Then he pushes and pulls on the door. Because our door has "play" in its frame, he sounds like someone knocking at the door. Like you I have checked for someone there.

Sometimes over the years we have just called CryBaby - CB for CrazyBaby as well. He lives up to both. Once when it was hailing he jumped up on the window ledge to ask to come in. When I opened the front door, he wouldn't get down. He just kept sitting there going - "Me ...ow!! Each time the "ow" part was LOUD and coincided with the hail hitting him. I finally had to get the crazy boy and bring him in!!

I also had a border collie(she was very small about the size of a sheltie) We never tault her any thing. She would walk out side on the walkway, jump up on the rail and walk across the beam and jump in the car (if the window was down she would jump threw the window.) She also found a pacifier on the ground and decided it was hers and I wish I can find those pictures so I can scann them, she would walk everywhere with that binky in her mouth. I decide one day to go buy a hola hoop, she knew just what to do! One day she was running to jump threw it and she TRIPED over something, she turned and looked looked at us and played it off it never happend. It was funny. She was amazing, I miss her sooo much, I wish everyday that I could find anohter one, we bought her off some amish guy, down the street because I didn't like the way they were. After we got her she would growl and bark at any older gentalmen with a beard and mustash

I have a run-of-the-mill mutt cat named Tobey who is just a hoot. He's around 4 now, I think. Anyway, he thinks he's a dog, which is exceptionally odd since he was never around any...

One day some neighborhood children were up at the top of the driveway and before I knew it Tobey had launched himself across the living room, lept up onto the bay window and was GROWLING at the neighbor's kids! He also drools, chews on sneakers, takes baths well, and fetches on occasion. He's just special. Here he is playing with a baloon http://www.geocities.com/orrodentry/Oct222001_003.jpg

I wish I could have gotten a picture of when the chinchillas got out and decided it'd be fun to chase poor Tobey across the house or when GT our Goffin's Cockatoo descided that Tobey's tail was his own personal toy. This is the same cat that got his picture in the newspaper for letting two of my rats dance on his head. He has no dignity left. Smile

We had a Jack Russell named Desiel. She just loved going for truck rides. And she watch for hours for road kill or something running across the road. And after awhile she get tired from being on the dash and nothing happens. My husband will wait till she just falls asleep and say HUH!! She would fly up and look and nothing. She was so golabull.Or if there is something she jumps to the back seat and crys because we did not stop. One time about 1000.00 away from home and we had a road kill .As soon as we parked the truck. She took of to the road and brought the thing home. What a Jack she was. But someone stole her off the property, And it has been 4 yrs, and he has not found another one.We still have one jack named Toby , but she is not the same. Toby knows when it is truck time. She knows all the signs, and will not leave our sight.

Just love animals.

Two puppies were shipped to me- mine and a friend's. The day after I got the puppies I met my friend halfway (which is about an hr from where I live). Both puppies were in my Tahoe and my yorkie escaped out of the box (yes I have learned my lesson the hard way that you never take a dog anywhere without having them strapped in either an airline crate, etc). I pulled off at the exit and she was nowhere to be found. My friend then met me and I thought it was amazing that my puppy was nowhere to be found...not under any seats, NOWHERE. I then thought she had dropped out of my car and ran into the street or she'd been kidnapped. We had a policeman go to a nearby house that acted suspicious when we asked them if they had seen my dog. We looked EVERYWHERE on the premises and asked everybody that drove by. This was about 10am. About 3 or 4 pm rolls around and guess where we finally found her...she had crawled up under my glove compartment and then inbetween my front seats underneath the center console. Do you know how we figured that out? We put a finger up under there with NutriCal on it (because she was one pound and we keep the stuff handy) and she licked. I was so happy I had to then drive to the Chevrolet dealership and get them to take out my center console!

SmileMONEY MAKING DACHSHUND Wink

I was sitting on the couch trying to rest, all the while being pounced on by this 6 lb little doxie....finally, he seemed to calm down and I just happened to fall asleep. I heard a rustling noise and then the doggie pounced right up into my face and woke me up.
He had a ten dollar bill in his mouth. oh Wow...a money making dog...I ask, how did you do that? So I took the ten dollar bill out of his mouth and stuck it in my pocket...It was hilarius, but I was still half asleep and wanted to finish my little nap. I told him...go fetch more money...haha!! and I fell back asleep.

This is the funniest part...he comes back again and pounces me and he has a five dollar bill in his mouth. Whoa now...I'm fully awake this time and I start realizing this is real money the little dog is bringing me.
I knew no one put him up to it because my husband was outside working and I was the only other person there.

I called my husband and told him----honey, we just can't adopt out this dog...no way...we've got to keep him...He says what now? I'm grinning....I said we got us a money making dog. He goes, huh?
I said, yes, this dog knows how to fetch money. I told him about him bringing the ten dollar bill and then bringing the five dollar bill.
My husband comes in the house and asks, well, did he bring you a $20 dollar bill too? I said no...

Shall I send him to fetch one of those now? haha!! He says no, because I didn't leave a twenty dollar bill sitting on the end table...hahaha!!! too funny. Smart dog if you ask me. So then I asked my husband if we could take the dog and visit all the neighbors. He asked why. I said, so the dog can practice fetching money...why else? hahaaha!!

I'm only here to share knowlege and to learn.

We had just gotten our above ground pool installed and one day...I watched my calico cat sleeping lazily in the morning afternoon sun. She had decided to lay right there on the rim or edge of the pool top. It's about 3-4" wide. All of a sudden as I sat there watching her, she rolled over and fell right into the pool.
I jumped up and had to fish her out of the water. I could barely get her out because I was laughing so hard. At the same time I was thinking, oh my poor little kitty and then I'd burst out laughing. You had to see it--it was the expression on her face when she landed in the water...
I'm glad I was watching her that day. I know she could have gotten out on her own, but I think she was happy I came to her rescue.
I was going to change her name to Comical Cat.

Well I have a story that I would like to share...I have a choc.lab/dalmation mix female. Well we moved next door to a lady that owned 2 chow mix dogs. As to say the chows had run of the whole place, because they were the only dogs around there for 2 years. Well she had a male that was not aggressive to our dog but a female that didn't want her there. She would chace our dog and nip her on the back side ALL the time.
Well I brought Coco in one night after this happened and I loved her and told her that she was a big girl and she needed to take up for her self....WELL the next time it happened we were all outside watching them and when they took off she went to nip her back side and well Coco had to use the potty---SO IT ALL WENT IN THE FEMALES MOUTH !!!! I started laughing so hard I couldn't help my self. The poor dog went running to her water bowl. And you could actually see her spitting out the poop. Coco on the other hand came up to me and jumped up on me as to say---I DID IT MOM !!!! Well after that we heard no more fighting out side...LOL.
P.S. She never HURT her, just nipped her.And we have moved since then also.

I had a friends come out to visit when I lived on the farm in PA. They brought their GSD, Max, with them. We walked out to see the ponies and Max went bounding out into the field. He wasn't trying to chase them, just say 'Hi'. Max startled Prancer, the Welsh pony, who lashed out with both back feet. Nailed Max right in the head! For a second or so I think Max was out cold on his feet. Then he ran to his owners and never left their side again the whole day. When I brought the ponies in that night, maxwas in the road with his owners. He crawled right under my truck to keep tham between him and the ponies. I couldn't stop laughing. He looked so funny crawling on his belly to stay away from a small pony.
