now here's something really different- did you all know that you can AI birds? I guess it's kind of common in chickens but new in budgies (just starting to do this in parrots but according to the article they need a different kind of extender mixed with the sperm) That would be great for some of the harder to breed species.

I understand emerald wing and fruit doves are VERY hard to breed in captivity! They should try this with these species.

Or try it with hermit crabs... Wink They've NEVER been bred in captivity.

Bali, thats some cool info. I wasn't aware that it could be done in birds, let alone it was being done. How and where did you find out?

I actually know a chicken breeder near me and he showed me how they breed this certain chicken- they can't breed on their own (they have no butt or too much butt, I think one of those reasons) and I recently saw an article on line regarding budgies.
