I HAVE A NEW BABY MACAW. I HAVE HAD ONLY MATURE BIRDS IN THE PAST. HIS CAGE IS IN OUR FAMILY ROOM WHERE HE CAN SEE US ALL, BUT HE SEEMS TO MAKE ALOT OF NOISE WHEN I LEAVE THE ROOM OR I AM NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO HIM. I KNOW NOT TO GIVE HIM TOO MUCH MORE ATTENTION IN THE BEGINING THEN WHAT I PLAN TO DO IN THE FUTRUE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ. WILL HE START TO CALM DO AND MAKE LESS NOISE AS HE MATURES? ANY ONE HAVE A TIME FRAME?

How old is your bird? if he is young, too young he may be acting noisey for attention? he also maybe use to more attention with the breeder? sometimes it takes a few months to get use to his/her new enviroment...also macaws are known to act like 2 year old babies and are very loud. I hope all works well with your new bird...

When we got our Scarlet macaw, he acted in the same manner you are describing. It took 2 months but now you would hardly know he is in the house. He only makes noise when we are in the same room with him and then he is trying out his vocabulary on us.

The only dumb question is the one that goes UNASKED!!!!

Yes he will, cant give you a time frame because just like people each bird is different. Some take longer some shorter.

Some birds under stresss (going to a new home) will want to be feed by hand again for security. He should settle down once a routine is established in his care. Congrats on the new baby

It's a dog eat dog world, and I am wearing milkbone underwear!...unknown.
