Hi everyone,
We have Peking and Indian Runners. Both are starting to lay their eggs; the prb we have is they are BAD mothers by nature. They just lay them anywhere and walk away. So far I have found all together about 10 eggs. Now the question; is there a way to save the eggs besides buying one of them really expensive incubators? I really do not want to just leave them in the yard but, I have no idea what my next step should be. I should of read more about the breeding parts of the ducks before I picked these kinds of ducks. I pick these becuz thats what they use in herding trails. Frown

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

ok get an aquarium, like a ten dollar one from wal mart, put lots of shavings or hay or blankets in there, and then put a heating pad underneath....that should do the trick...

You will also need to either add a bowl of water for humidity or mist the surrounding shavings, don't directly mist the eggs as you can drown the babies.
Here is a link for you sheltie, it gived detailed instructions and a list of what you need.

Thanks,
I am going to give the first link a try. I just hope it works. Right now the barn cats are umm... making snack of them before I can even get out there. Also how the heck do you drowned a duck that is in an egg? I have never heard that before. I guess you do learn new things everyday.
