I am new and i did do a search for this. I am just wondering what kind of catfish I have. Are there any websites that show pictures of different species and stuff? I looked on a few sites that sell them but i did not see the one I have. Its whiteish almost silver and is getting pretty big. I have him in a 110 gallon tank with my turtle but if hes goin to get to big then i cant have him in there.. Please let me know if you can help me....
Most of your cats (ie: channel, albino) do get large. They will eat other fish and whatever is on the bottom. I also had a PimPictus that got to be 14". He grew up with my albino tiger Oscar We didn't know if maybe he was some sort of hybrid or what....
Stay away from Redtail cats too,,,,they are very pricey and get HUGE.

HI THERE, JUST PASSING THRU AND YOUR POST CAUGHT MY EYE..... I HAVE A WONDERFUL 24'' ALBINO CHANNEL CAT THAT IS SPOILED ROTTEN. I CAN PAT HIM, HE HAND FEEDS ON THE TOP, SMILES FOR US. HE IS JUST A NEAT GENTLE FISH. WHEN HE WAS ABOUT 15'' I BOUGHT ''PINKY'' SOME FEEDER GOLDFISH AS I READ THAT THEY LIKE LIVE FOOD. I ENDED UP GIVING THE GOLDFISH AWAY. HE LIVES WITH 1 KNIFE FISH, 2 RAINBOW SHARKS [LOOK LIKE TROUT TO ME], 3 SPOTTED RAFAELS, 2 STRIPED RAFAELS, 2 MIDNIGHT CATFISH, 1 FOUR LINER, AND 2 ROPEFISH THAT HAVE SUCCESSFULLY BRED IN THIS 150 GAL TANK. I HAVE FOUND 3 LITTLE BABY ROPEFISH! HMMMM THE BOOKS SAY THAT ROPEFISH DO NOT BREED IN HOME AQUARIUMS. LOL
I had a rope fish give birth to a litter as well. I say it that way because to my amazement they are live bearers. The strangest thing is, I think they are unisex as this one had not had a mate for over two years. The babies were so cute eating brine shrimp right off the knife!
This was 20 years ago, but my interest in them has never left me. ANY info you could provide would be appreciated.
Some are here because they hope to make a difference, others like to roll around in the feces. You'll be able to "sniff them out" in no time. -DJ's Doxies,
