WOW! Those are incredible! I've had freshwater tanks for yrs up until about a year ago. I have always loved saltwater, but never could afford it. Those are just beautiful and when the time is right you will have one again.
Thanks Pdjenn. I hope you are right. They are a passion of mine and for a long time I was actually obsessed with them. I swear I was constantly fiddling with them 24/7!! But, *sigh*, they are very expensive. I'm even embarrassed by how much money I spent on them. OH how I'd love to have that money right now!! LOL! But I'll tell you, if you ever do get the chance, go for it. But I'll warn you in advance, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!! I never stopped learning, even after almost 10 years. But there's nothing more disheartening than paying $100 for a fish or a coral only to have it die on you in a week because you didn't do your homework.

Wow, CrystalK! Cute fishes. I never had a saltwater fish but have always wanted one, I find them very pretty. I've always had Gold fish or little cuppis and of course small crabs, which were totally cute! (I like weird pets things like that) *giggles*

uh oh...I'm beginning to panic. Been trying to open a CD for over 10 minutes now and it keeps telling me the disk is corrupt!! It has over 1200 pictures on it and most of them fish pictures. Anyone know of a disc repair program out there?? This isn't good. Also has lots of pictures of my grandson.

Dew, I started out with freshwater myself. Had them for years before I went to salt water. No comparison! Once you go saltwater, you will never go back to freshwater. It's like night and day!

This is the same reason I gave up exotic reptiles and frogs. Any good books you can recommend on the subject?

OH my...if you have asked me a year ago I could list them off to you in a second. Now...I'll have to think. Much of my research/knowledge came from marine/reef forums. Nothing like a bunch of aquarists getting together and sharing information. But there are several very good books out there. Pricey but good. I just can't think of any off the top of my head right now.

have you tried cleaning it? I use alcohol and a paper towel and swipe it. Sometimes they get dust or something on them. I hope it works.
WE HATE YOU (just kidding). Me and my mom want your set ups so badly. We love fish so much but dont have the money or smarts for a salt water tank. Maybe when we get the big bucks lol. Then I will hire someone to set it up for me. Thanks for showing/sharing your photos please post more if you have some. I love your snowflake eel.
It's not always rainbows and butterflies. It's compromise that moves us along. (This seems to be so true in life).

Wow Crystal, I am impressed. What incredibly gorgeous tanks and fish. I've always wanted a salt water tank - but considering that I've heard how much of an exact science it is to keeping them - I've never had one. How much time in say, one week, did you devote to the tanks and fish?

Wow, LL that's a hard question to answer. Especially for me because I was totally obsessed. I was constantly re-arranging, doing water chemical analysis, you name it, I was doing it. I think I went overboard. But in all honesty I would have to say that (now this is AFTER initial setup), I spent an hour a day on each tank. Which doesn't seem like much, but when you have 3 active tanks, that's a lot of time. Also, I did 30% water changes once a month, so certain times of the month I spent 2-3 hours on each tank. I have to admit...I was chronic.

Sorry for taking so long GM...but I do have some great reference materials for you to check out. Okay, to begin with, ANYTHING by these authors is worth paying for: Julian Sprung, John Sprung, J. Charles Delbeek, Fenner, Nick Dakin, John Teagle, and Robert Teagle. They are awesome in their field. Certain books to look for are:
The Concientious Marine Aquarist by Fenner The Reef Aquarium by Sprung The Reef Aquarium by Delbeek (one of my favorites) Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies
Guide to the Selection, Care & Breeding of Corals for the Mini-reef Aquarium (Axlerod)
The New Marine Aquarium by Michael S. Paletta
The list goes on and on, but if you buy a book from Delbeek, Sprung, Dakin, Teagle, Paletta, or Axerod, you can't go wrong!!!
However, be prepared to pay. Most of their books range from $50 - $200 each.
