Hello,

I am currently thinking about buying a fish tank and some fishes. To be honest i have one of those 3d animated aquarium as a nightligh on my beddesk. However the fishes look really fake and i was wondering about buying a real fishtank and some fishes to serve as a nightlight and a lamp. I was wondering if it's a good enough motivation before getting started. I know i'm going to have to feed the fish and clean the fish tank and check the ph of the water and all that. FIshes are relaxing to look at. I think that is why most people have a fishtank in the first place. To see the fishes swim and get relaxed. One question thought i know betta fish must be put alone or with goldfishes only but been wondering on how big they can become. It's because i have seen one advertised for sale on ebay. The person is askin 40.00$ as a starting bid and 80$ buy it now for one betta fish. I thought it was a little bit overpriced unless his/her fish is really big now.

The reason i am looking into pet is because i am a lonely soul no possibility of having friends or girlfriends of my life so i must find something to do. Most of the time i listen to music or i am behind the computer. I am afraid that i will play with the fish at first but slowly discard them especially if i go into depression. During that time if sometimes feel like all i got is animals. IS it dangerous for the fishes to let the light on during a long period of time ? Can the water becomes too hot for the fishes ? It'S really hot in my room sometimes because i am right next of the central heating system of all the mobile home.

Hello and welcome! You sound like you could use a project. A fish tank would be perfect! If I were you, I'd forget about the bettas. And no, you can't put them with Gold Fish. (my specialty) Well, I guess you could, but if you are prone to depression, I think the constant torture to the goldfish from the bettas, would surely rock your world to the bad side. Smile

I would suggest a 10 gallon set up and start looking at the different varieties of guppys. They like higher temperatures, so you could have the light on more than some other fishes. Plus, they have live babies, instead of laying eggs. Something to look forward to. Fun!

Just a few suggestions. Good luck.

Some are here because they hope to make a difference, others like to roll around in the feces. You'll be able to "sniff them out" in no time. -DJ's Doxies,
