It's hard to believe I've had them almost 4 years. They've lasted longer than anything else I put in the tank. And don't let them fool you into thinking they're cute...stick your hand in the tank next to the powerhead and watch them turn into little orange pirhannas.
Since my Snowflake Eel died, I've been planning on doing some major overhauls on the tank and HB and I are talking about what and how we'd like to restock the tank. Doesn't make much sense to have a 75 gallon tank for 2 fish that are less than 3" long.
Here's what we've been thinking of getting...
Royal Gramma...we had one before, but it got stressed out after I switched the tank to bare bottom and died about a month after the change.
Pajama Cardinal...maybe 3 or 5 since they school.
Or a few Banggai Cardinals
I've always wanted a Flame Angel
HB's always liked the Coral Beauty's
I've always liked the Purple Firefish too...
And I'd like to get another cleaner shrimp since I won't have anything in the tank that would want to eat it.
So...we'll see what happens.

Ohhhhhh lets see, I think you should definatly get the Royal Gramma(those colors are cool), the Pajama Cardinal (its got spots ), the Banggai Cardinals(it also has spots ), hmmmmmmmm. OHh what the heck just get them all you have 75 gallons to use up lol. I do have a question is the Royal gramma and the purple firefish that bright?? psssssssssst We want pictures of what ever you get. LOL
Well, I'm still researching the cardinal fish. I'm not sure if I can keep both species together. HB and I like both kinds, so it may just depend on availablility and price.
As far as the grammas and the firefish, those pictures don't do them justice. Graham, our previous gramma was a Carribean species which is smaller and brighter than the Brazilian species. His colors were a lot deeper than this pic. We've also considered the Frimandi species, which is all purple with a black head, but those are a little harder to find, which means a little more expensive when you do find them. I'll have to see if I can get HB let me use her computer and find some older pics of Graham. He was one of our favorites, and broke our hearts when we lost him.
After we nail down a list, it's just a matter of finding good stock and introducing them into the tank in a certain order. The flame angel will be the last one introduced since they can be a little more agressive once they claim their territory in the tank.

Cool, I can't wait to see them. I haven't had a fish tank in years. I took it down after my angel fish died. The one died and we think the other one lost his mind. He went kind of pysco after the first one died.
You can do it Deep...if I can keep fish, you can. Maybe you just got some difficult fish. Some are easier than others to take care of. I knew nothing about saltwater aquariums until we bought the 75 gallon. Mostly it boils down to patience. There's an old addage that says only bad things happen fast in an aquarium.
It's not really that much different than breeding dogs.
You have to be patient for both. You have to do lots of research in advance for both. You buy the best you can for both. You learn from your mistakes with both. You spend WAY too much money with both.
Anyone with a little patience and dedication can keep a successful aquarium. Once you get a tank set up and established, the only things you really have to worry about are water changes and feedings...the rest of it is small stuff. Things get a little more complicated with saltwater because there's a few other water parameters you need to keep your eyes on and a few other pieces of equipment you need to buy, but it's not too much different than freshwater, I just happen to add marine salt mix to the water...when you start thinking about corals...then it's a whole new ball game.

Great Photos, as always. Best of luck on your search for the new stock. I have not ventured into salt water as of yet. I always thought it would be too complicated. We have had a 75 gallon tank for quite some time now, but have not set it up yet. Our 29 gallon has been quite enough to keep me busy (It was what my son wanted for his 7th birthday and he was going to take care of everything. HA Ha. Good thing Mom is there to take over.). We still have a Bandit catfish who is now 7 years old and had a Kissing fish who lasted 6 years. All other fish seem to be rotating.

Great to see you and HB are doing all the research needed for a successful collection! The photos are great!
I have a 55 that's been up and running since "92". At times I've thought about a salt water, but think I'll wait til I'm retired. It's so hard finding compatible additions, but the fish are amazing!
Besides, we have so much fun shopping the midwest for that perfect addition to our collection of Golfish. More often than not, we come home empty handed.
My photography doesn't hold a candle to yours, but I hope you don't mind me posting a few pics of our past and present crew. That is if I can find any, worthwhile.
Some are here because they hope to make a difference, others like to roll around in the feces. You'll be able to "sniff them out" in no time. -DJ's Doxies,

Orandas right? Those are my mom's favorites. We had 3 of them when I was growing up. I really like the metallic orange one in the 3rd picture. They look just as funny as a clownfish when they swim...
Found a funny Oranda pic for you...

I love the rounded lobes and absence of deep forking to the tail! Nice fish!
Orandas, Ryukins, Pearle scale, and Black Moores.

Like I said...the pictures up at the top don't do them justice.
The 3rd pic was an attachment to the original post instead of a link to a hosting site...I think you have to be a member of the forum and logged in to view them since it was hosted on their site...sorry.
They had a whole "discussion" going on over there if these are "girly" or "manly" fish. Would you believe it got to 126 pages before they locked the thread?

WOW I don't even think any of the Pluba threads have made it that far.LOL **shakes her head in wonder** 126 pages of fighting over whether or not the fish are "girly" or "manly" fish. I thought there were some (ohh how do I say this nicely) stupid fights over here. LOL
The difference between here and there...over there it's a moderated flame free environment, so it was all friendly bantering back and forth. All threads over there eventually get off topic, usually because of talking about food...I can almost promise this one got off topic after 5 pages.

Very true. I think its an unwritten rule on every forum to a topic to go off topic. LOL
