1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.
2. Heterosexual marriages are valid becasue they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.
3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 58-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire counrty. That's why we have only one religion in America.
8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars, computers, or longer lifespans.
12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Seperate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as seperate marriages for gays and lesbians will.
I avoided opening this topic because it is one of the things that get me riled up. *anti gay people* But was suprised to see the actual post and all I can say is

I have to say that as soon as I saw the title to this thread I immediately got pissed off, but thank god it was not one of those damn bible thumping threads against gays.

Then you should learn how to read. Christina is not saying she doesn't like gays. Reread the topic from the beginning.

Al,
I think you took offense where none was needed. If you look closer at the 12 reasons, it is poking fun a homophobes(sp), showing how ridiculous they think the whole subject is. And I would think they are not against gay marriages. You need to reread, I am sure they didn't mean to make you upset. I was a joke.

Well, personally, if two people of the same sex are in love, why stop that? I'm for gay marriages. I don't see why everyone is against it. Homophobes just disgust me entirely.
Good post. I too was prepared to be angered. Very pleasantly surprised.
thanks for posting.

Okay Eagle did you read number ten? You are cheering this, yet you wrote a half dozen posts on Open to the contrary. Wasn't that YOU bi-polar girl who said children should not be raised by gay parents?
Now you are cheering? You are a nut. Please find a psychiatrist and got yourself on some medication. They have made great advances in the treatment of Bi Polar disorder.
I mean no disrespect either to anyone who suffers from this. But Melissa's posts are tell tale to me that this chick DOES have a problem.

And I'm not one who socializes much ... pretty much work, work, work, if it takes BASH like what you people dished out for me to realize this is America land of the FREE and anything goes maybe I should just go with the flow.
Life is too short for me to see things my way all the time.
But again, I do have opinions and people should concider those also.
Maybe you should stop your one sided way of thinking and really THINK. Your first posts after you came back from posting a stolen GSD photo were to BASH breeders whom you did not even know. You never said one word of apology to anyone about lying aobut the GSD, and I am sure no apologies to the original owner of the dog and photo were made.
Then you made those horrific statements on Open about gay marriages/parenting. Those statements you made were so narrow minded and homophobic that even some of our sweetest and non confrotational members came out of the woodwork to tell you what they thought.
Keep on saying people here love to bash. Continue to take zero accountability for your actions. You have made the first bashs on both occasions when I ever made a hateful post in return. I never took the first swing Melissa.
You are like my ex. A con artist and a perpetual victim. Nothing is ever your fault, and you would rather wheel and deal then work a normal days job. Want his phone number? Heck he is not a cowboy but from what I can gather you both slither in the same circles.
