Yes, I'd like our next president to be american born. That was in the constitution and people have been trying to change it for years. It may have been changed by now--I'm not up on my reading as of late.

That's not the question---the question is SHOULD he be? There is a bill in congress trying to pass so he doesn't have to be a citizen. The guy is asking for your opinion. I'm sure he already knows the facts!!

His question was should the next president be a natural born american citizen. He didn't state that congress has been trying to change it. He didn't ask "If congress changes the law, should our next president be an american born citizen?" If he had asked that it would have been different.

Article II of the U.S. Constitution specifies that only "natural born" citizens of the United States are eligible to become president. Does the fact that John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone disqualify him?
Probably not. "Natural born" appears only once in the Constitution, as one of three prerequisites for presidential candidates (they must also have lived in the U.S. for more than 14 years and be at least 35 years old). Most constitutional scholars interpret "natural born" to cover everyone who was born an American citizen. This includes 1) people born in the U.S. (including territories such as Guam and the Virgin Islands) to parents of any citizenship; and, 2) people born abroad to American parents. Although the United States governed the Panama Canal Zone as "if it were sovereign" until 1979, it was treated as foreign soil for the purposes of American citizenship. But since McCain's parents were Americans, he was granted U.S. citizenship at birth.

I know I am probably going to catch hell for this opinion, but here it goes. I am divided. Yes because the constitution says that the president must be a natural born american cititzen, but on the other hand, we have alot of american born american citizens who even had a military backround that have betrayed this country, and many foreign born naturalized citizens that have made many wonderful contributions to the well being of this country. I honestly think that the presidency should be like any other job in that the most qualified person should hold the office.

Depends on if you believe in Revelations (from the Bible) and depends if you believe in the Prophecies. In the end times, people will worship the wrong guy--a popular guy who can rule all nations (to a degree) and thus convert the non-christians to becoming brainwashed, etc. I don't want to write all the details, but you get my drift. The 666 guy is going to be non-american born. Everyone thought it was going to be the pope--I think it's going to be Arnold (if he gets elected for president) or else someone like him. the beginning of the end, but ahhh...it's already started***
