It's a shame we don't have a 'flipping the bird' icon for times such as this.

This was sent to me two weeks ago and i thought it was apprpriate for this post.

Comparing the government reaction this past week to the government reaction the last time an American city was destroyed - San Francisco, April 18, 1906.
The earthquake struck at 5:13 AM.

By 7 AM federal troops had reported to the mayor.

By 8 AM they were patrolling the entire downtown area and searching for survivors.

The second quake struck at 8:14 AM.

By 10:05 AM the USS Chicago was on its way from San Diego to San Francisco; by 10:30 the USS Preble had landed a medical team and set up an emergency hospital.

By 11 AM large parts of the city were on fire; troops continued to arrive throughout the day, evacuating people from the areas threatened by fire to emergency shelters and Golden Gate Park.

St. Mary's hospital was destroyed by the fire at 1 PM, with no loss of life, the staff and patients having already been evacuated across the bay to Oakland.

By 3 PM troops had shot several looters, and dynamited buildings to make a firebreak; by five they had buried dozens of corpses, the morgue and the police pistol range being unable to hold any more.

At 8:40 PM General Funston requested emergency housing - tents and shelters - from the War Department in Washington; all of the tents in the U.S. Army were on their way to San Francisco by 4:55 AM the next morning.

Prisoners were evacuated to Alcatraz, and by April 20 (two days after the earthquake) the USS Chicago had reached San Francisco, where it evacuated 20,000 refugees.
I wonder if it made a difference that Teddy Roosevelt was President then? We could sure use old Ted now! I doubt seriously that he would have put a failed horse show lawyer in charge of things.

Roll Eyes

On Saturday morning before the hurricane hit, the Federal government of the United States of America, had legal documents drawn up to allow the military to take over the situation, because it's AGAINST THE LAW FOR THE FEDS JUST TO MOVE IN. THEY MUST HAVE AN INVITATION FROM THE STATE. (POSSE COMATADUSLAW----LOOK IT UP)

When confronted with this document, the DEMOCRATIC Governor of Louisiana said, "Give me 24 hours". She consulted her political advisors, and they said---NOT to sign the documents, because it would look like they had failed. Which in fact, they ended up doing, now didn't they?

When the Red Cross had semi loads of relief suppies stationed within blocks of the astrodome, again, they couldn't get an invitation to come in, because LOUISIANA emergency management agency wouldn't give them PERMISSION to come in to distribute, because they didn't want people to stay.

Check the Washington Post, buddy---they're a newspaper NOT known for anything conservative by any means, and even they were even trashing this governor.

Funny, you seem out of place on this thread, shouldn't you be posting on daily KOS? Let's see how they feel about you owning any guns over there.

I don't think the Arabian Assc. guy should have been in the position he was in.
And there's things I don't always agree with Bush on.( I will never agree with a single person on everything , all the time, who will?) But as a man, a President , and a person in general I support Bush and I really believe he has the Country's best intrest at heart.
I believe he truly cares about the American public and I think he is going through an enormous amount of grief, pain, and stress over everything going on with the war. I think with all the problems he's been trying to fix he has handled everything very well.
I will always believe that with each decision he makes there is a ton of secondguessing, worrying, and care put into it.

I think President Bush said it best:

"I'm also not very analytical. You know I don't spend a lot of time thinking about myself, about why I do things."
—Bush, reassuring us that the wartime president of the most powerful nation on earth does not think too much

Great comebacks with the pictures. Roll Eyes Proves to me that you never really knew the truth, so you'll just put up stupid pictures, since you really HAVE no comeback. How very informed of you.

Yes and it shows just how misinformed you are!
