OK HOW ABOUT WE PULL ALL THE MONEY FROM EVERY COUNTRY WE HELP. THEN WE WILL MAKE SURE TO MIND OUR OWN BACKYARD. YEAH AND THEN CANADA WILL SURELY BE ABLE TO STICK UP FOR ITSELF....LMAO...

YEAH OK...LOUSY PIECE OF ****.

Who are living in squalor with no place to take a **** or have a decent meal. Oh such a typical american to fly of the handle and start preachin about freedom. Yes I do enjoy my freedom...do I thank the United States of America for it NO!!! You's didn't win the Fuckin war all on your on....would I want you protecting me **** no...I'd be more than proud to fight for myself just to stay as distanced as far as possible from the american mentality that they can solve ALL the worlds problems....Oh ya easy on the capitols soldier you must not have a voice left.

well if you want to fight or would be more than happy to , please do so, and hopefully you may learn something! We don't think we can solve all the worlds problems , but they (the world) sure do like to ask us to! Nope not flyin off the handle...you insulted my brother and what he is doing for our country. Until you live here shut up and worry about canada. no , sorry when i feel i want to i will use capitals.

There is no way on gods green earth you need to stick your nose in our business if you depise us this much. wouldn't you want to steer clear. Nah for you it makes you feel important to THINK YOU KNOW what is going on here.

As for Hurricane Katrina...Einstein, how would you like things to be done...ah yes, the people that live in the area are WELL aware what damage could be done to their homes, and yet they wouldn't move, and now they want us to fund rebuilding EVERYTHING so that they can go back to living in THE SAME SPOT...sorry not flyin in my book

So until you are an american shut your Pie hole!

World Without America?
Peter Brookes | July 05, 2006
For all the worldwide whining and bellyaching about the United States, July 4th -- America's 230th birthday -- provides an opportune time for them to consider for just a moment what the world might be like without good ol' Uncle Sam.

The picture isn't pretty. Absent U.S. leadership, diplomatic influence, military might, economic power and unprecedented generosity, life aboard planet earth would likely be pretty grim, indeed. Set aside the differences America made last century -- just imagine a world where this country had vanished on Jan. 1, 2001.

On security, the United States is the global balance of power. While it's not our preference, we are the world's "cop on the beat," providing critical stability in some of the planet's toughest neighborhoods.

Without the U.S. "Globo-cop," rivals India and Pakistan might well find cause to unleash the dogs of war in South Asia -- undoubtedly leading to history's first nuclear (weapons) exchange. Talk about Fourth of July fireworks . . .

In Afghanistan, al Qaeda would still be an honored guest, scheming over a global caliphate stretching from Spain to Indonesia. It wouldn't be sending fighters to Iraq; instead, Osama's gang would be fighting them tooth and nail from Saudi Arabia to "Eurabia."

In Asia, China would be the "Middle Kingdom," gobbling up democratic Taiwan and compelling pacifist Japan (reluctantly) to join the nuclear weapons club. The Koreas might fight another horrific war, resulting in millions of deaths.

A resurgent Russia, meanwhile, would be breathing down the neck of its "near abroad" neighbors. Forget the democratic revolutions in Ukraine and Georgia, Comrade! In Europe, they'd be taking orders from Paris or Berlin -- if those rivals weren't at each other's throats again.

In Africa, Liberia would still be under Charles Taylor's sway, and Sudan would have no peace agreement.

And what other nation could or would provide freedom of the seas for commerce, including the shipment of oil and gas -- all free of charge?

Weapons of mass destruction would be everywhere. North Korea would be brandishing a solid nuclear arsenal. Libya would not have given up its weapons, and Pakistan's prodigious proliferator, A.Q. Khan, would still be going door to door, hawking his nuclear wares.

Also missing would be other gifts from "Uncle Sugar" -- starting with 22 percent of the U.N. budget. That includes half the operations of the World Food Program, which feeds over 100 million in 81 countries.

Gone would be 17 percent of UNICEF's costs to feed, vaccinate, educate and protect children in 157 countries -- and 31 percent of the budget of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, which assists more than 19 million refugees across the globe.

In 2005, Washington dispensed $28 billion in foreign aid, more than double the amount of the next highest donor (Japan), contributing nearly 26 percent of all official development assistance from the large industrialized countries.

Moreover, President Bush's five-year $15 billion commitment under the Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief is the largest commitment by a single nation toward an international health initiative -- ever -- working in over 100 (mostly African) countries.

The United States is the world's economic engine. We not only have the largest economy, we spend 40 percent of the world's budget on R&D, driving mind-boggling innovation in areas like information technology, defense and medicine.

We're the world's ATM, too, providing 17 percent of the International Monetary Fund's resources for nations in fiscal crisis, and funding 13 percent of World Bank programs that dole out billions in development assistance to needy countries.

And what does Uncle Sam get in return? Mostly grief, especially from all the ungrateful freeloaders who benefit tremendously from the global "public goods" we so selflessly provide with our time, effort, blood and treasure. How easily -- and conveniently -- they forget . . . unless they need help, of course.

But let us never forget, especially today, that despite the name-calling, the jeers, the petty jealousies, we're the envy of the world -- and rightfully so.

The fact is that no matter what anyone says: No country has given so much to so many so often -- while asking for so little in return -- for so little gratitude than this great country of ours. So Happy birthday, America! Stand tall and proud -- you've earned it.

Well, you hit the World Trade Center, but you missed America. You hit the Pentagon, but you missed America. You used helpless American bodies, to take out other American bodies, but like a poor marksman, you STILL missed America.

Why? Because of something you guys will never understand: America isn't about a building or two, not about financial centers, not about military centers. America isn't about a place, America isn't even about a bunch of bodies.

America is about an IDEA. An idea, that you can go someplace where you can earn as much as you can figure out how to, live for the most part, like you envisioned living, and pursue happiness. (No guarantees that you'll reach it, but you can sure try!)

Go ahead and whine your terrorist whine, and chant your terrorist litany: "If you can not see my point, then feel my pain." This concept is alien to Americans. We live in a country where we don't have to see your point. But you're free to have one. We don't have to listen to your speech. But you're free to say one. Don't know where you got the strange idea that everyone has to agree with you. We don't agree with each other in this country, almost as a matter of pride. We're a collection of guys that don't agree, called States. We united our individual states to protect ourselves from tyranny in the world. Another idea, we made up on the spot. You CAN make it up as you go, when it's your country. If you're free enough.

Yeah, we're fat, sloppy, easy-going goofs most of the time. That's an unfortunate image to project to the world, but it comes from feeling free and easy about the world you live in. It's unfortunate too, because people start to forget that when you attack Americans, they tend to fight like a cornered badger. The first we knew of the War of 1812 was when England burned Washington D.C. to the ground. Didn't turn out like England thought it was going to, and it's not going to turn out like you think, either. Sorry, but you're not the first bully on our shores, just the most recent. No Marquis of Queensbury rules for Americans, either. We were the FIRST and so far, the only country in the world to use nuclear weapons in anger. Horrific idea, nowadays? News for you bucko; it was back then too, but we used it anyway. Only had two of them in the whole world and we used them both.

Grandpa Jones worked on the Manhattan Project. Told me once, that right up until they threw the switch, the physicists were still arguing over whether the Uranium alone would fission, or whether it would start a fission chain reaction that would eat everything. But they threw the switch anyway, because we had a War to win. Does this tell you something about American Resolve?

So who just declared War on us? It would be nice to point to some real estate, like the good old days. Unfortunately, we're probably at war with random camps, in far-flung places - who think they're safe. Just like the Barbary Pirates did, if I recall correctly. Better start sleeping with one eye open. There's a spirit that tends to take over people who come to this country, looking for opportunity, looking for liberty, and looking for freedom. Even if they misuse it. The Marielistas that Castro emptied out of his prisons were overjoyed to find out how much freedom there was. First thing they did when they hit our shores, was run out and buy guns. The ones that didn't end up dead, ended up in prisons. It was a big pain in the *** then (especially in south Florida), but you're only the newest pain in the ***, not the first. You guys seem to be incapable of understanding that we don't live in America, America lives in US! American Spirit is what it's called. And killing a few thousand of us, or a few million of us, won't change it. Most of the time, it's a pretty happy-go-lucky kind of Spirit. Until we're crossed in a cowardly manner, then it becomes an entirely different kind of Spirit.

Wait until you see what we do with that Spirit, this time. Sleep tight, if you can. We're coming.

I don't believe in war. I don't think that attacking Iraq is a productive way to handle Sept. 11. Saddam Hussein was not one of the men from Afganistan attacking the WTC. I agree that it's all about power and oil.
I just wish people would fight for peace. If I could go to an anti-war rally for this I would. I wish people were mature and kind enough to talk problems through. *Sigh.* Sometimes the world is disappointing. and I love our country. I love being able to have as much freedom as we do. But I don't like the way Bush is handling our problems. It's not getting us anywhere. Innnocent people are dying because of this and it's because of Bush. I am very democratic and I wish kerry would have won. Even people who originally voted for Bush are regretting it now.

Would you also go to a soldiers funeral and protest?
Would you ruin the chance for his family friends and others that support our armed services to show the pain of their loss?

i am glad that everyone has an opinion, and i am VERY open to letting people be themselves.

Glad that you expressed your opinion in a way that was neither derogatroy or uneducated! Thank You Virginia.

Sarah

You know I would understand if there was a purpose for this war . But there isn't. I mean we are not looking for bin laddan < sp anymore .I fear the longer we go on there wont be willing soilders to fight. what does this mean ? my only child will be drafted. Sorry if that sounds selfish but I never cared for going to war sh*t as a kid I cried when my parents watch old war movies.

A country in a midst of a civil war is not a threat to anyone but itself.

The US should just get out of Iraq and let them all kill each other. The more they kill, the less we have to worry about later. When the dust settles, if the US does not like the results, it can always go back in, dismantle the government, supply the weaker side with arms and let the slaughter start again.

The next target should be Iran. Only this time the US should not stay in long. Just long enough to ignite a civil war and leave.
