This is a war for oil. The US consumes 20 Million barrels of oil PER DAY in the US. 9/11 was the window of opportunity, that the US administration was waiting for, to fool the American public. They blended Iraq in with Bin Laden and the terrorist activities so to give us reason to invade and keep replace their regime with an US backed government.

If you thought 9/11 was terror, wait til you see what is next. Its going to make 9/11 look like kindergarten. Terrorism will be a deeper part of American life due this invasion. We had the opportunity to be peacemaker, but instead we chose access to oil, so yes we have secured our interests further in the oil producing countries, but we will suffer greatly for it at home and abroad as we will be a hated nation, and under attack for the next quarter century.

I feel for the soldiers in Afganistan. That is where the real threat started, and now those poor soldiers are playing second string to a power packed initiative in Iraq. They must be fighting low low morale watching all the might of the military on another campaign. Frown

We are going to get our asses nuked if we don't stop blowing up bagdad. Someone will probably drop a bomb centerstage in a major US city to wake our asses up. This bombing AIN'T RIGHT! WHAT IS THE ADMINISTRATION THINKING!

I really don't believe that this war is about oil (only my opinion-I could be wrong). If this were really about oil, I think we could find a better way instead of spending 100 billion to destroy the country, then billions more to rebuild it.

Saddam Hussein is an evil person (he even resembles Hitler don't you think?). I just wish the problem could have been resolved differently without costing the lives of soldiers. Bush Sr. should have finished the job the first time, I sure hope his son gets it done right so that we don't have to deal with this problem in another 12 years.

"We will be a hated nation"

Sorry, dude, we are already hated. Hated for the freedom we enjoy, our lifestyle, culture, EVERYTHING AMERICAN! This is NOT about oil, it's about getting Saddam out of power. He NEVER did what he was supposed to do after the Gulf war and has led the UN around by the nose since. Even more so in the last several months. It has been WAY past time to deal with this.

If this war is not for oil, then what it is for?? Taking Saddam off!! When the US takes Saddam off by killing innocent Iraqi people, more and more people will hate the US, and more and more terrorist attacks will take place...

Say NO for KILLING innocent people
Say NO for making the world PEACELESS
Say NO for war on IRAQ

This is EXACTLY the kind of attitude the terrorists want:

Roll over and TAKE IT!

And if you think that only innocent people are being killed, then you are hopelessly naive! The people who hate us are motivated by jeolousy of us. NOT going after Saddam and sparing these 'innocent' people will never change that.

As for saying NO to war on Irag...

A little late for that, aren't ya?

Thanks, turtledove. Smile

I'm just tired of the attitude that I've seen develop over the years of a lot of the rest of the world, who seem to think that we are all bark and no bite.

Mind you, I know that we can't be the be all, end all (is that the right phrase Confused) but for a VERY long time, other countries have looked to us first for many things. America has its problems, to be sure, but it recognizes that it is part of a global community and feels a responsibility whenever that community is threatened by someone like Sodamn Insane. And since 9-11, when we found out just how vulnerable we really are, we have to take that responsibility SERIOUSLY. Even going against those who oppose us and even try to prevent us from doing so. (They know who they are).

After all, NO DAMN BODY ELSE IS GONNA DO IT, ARE THEY?????

The question is a good one and the answers aren't necessarily obvious. The answer is that the fight is over power. Energy in the form of oil is a financial resource. Money is power. Saddam has been accumulating wealth and using it to support groups intent on conquering Israel and also fighting western countries with alegances to Israel. It's a confusing mess. He has been buying advanced weaponry from any country willing to prostitute themselves to him. So, is it the west just wanting his oil? The answer is no! There is still plenty of crude in the world without emptying the reserves under Iraq. The problem is a dictatorship with evil intent willing to supress his own people by any violent and cruel means at his disposal. HAve you read or heard of the stream of lies told to his people. He's quite willing to send thousands of people to their deaths.

Have u ever heard of Biomass, renewable energy made from organic waste, wood, grass, in ten years where I work we will have 100% totally renewable resources used for heating. Look up gasifier projects, it will tell u how the future will be going, corn uses ect. The gov't funds research, we will be nearly self sustaining with this and if the tree huggers let us get oil in Alaska, our farming communities will be rejuvinated, there crops can be used for making a low BTU gas. The need for oil will decrease but the arabic people will hate us reguardless, all they know is war. They will still fly here, some will come here and get even a bigger foot hole in our convenience stores. They grab our money, US money to purchase oil and use that money to fund terrorist and build presidential palaces whil e the average folks of the country do with out. We give them gov't loans to get businesses going and they eat us from the inside out. Give them there own freedom, own prosperity, own lives and they will not hate us.

It is projected that switching to biomass will cut our fuel cost in half, When this thing gets going, it will affect our workforce in a positve way, the trucking of biomass fuels, handling ect.

Clearly its oil driven: Just look at this news clip out today.
--------------------------------------

Looking at the longer term relationship with the new Iraq, the New York Times said the United States was planning to seek access to military bases in the country.

The report said U.S. military officials hoped to maintain four bases in Iraq -- one at Baghdad international airport, one at Tallil near Nassiriya in the south, one at an isolated airstrip in the western desert along an old oil pipeline to Jordan, and one at the Bashur air field in the Kurdish north.

A Pentagon (news - web sites) spokesman told Reuters he had no information on the report.

CONCERN FOR THE FUTURE

While most Iraqis have hailed the end of Saddam's brutal 24-year rule, protesters in Iraqi cities have demanded that the United States leave the country as soon as possible.

Eight Middle Eastern states also urged Washington to withdraw its troops from Iraq swiftly and to keep its hands off the country's oil wealth.

Iraq has the second-largest proven oil reserves after Saudi Arabia, which is concerned its own revenues might be hit if Iraqi oil is again sold on the open market.
