PD its all fired before I paint it. You only put in glazes to be refired. I get the stuff from ceramic stores.

so you don't have to refire it after painting it to make it glosy?

I seen this one program where you can use a micro wave to fire ceramics. Is that true or did I misunderstand them.

I haven't heard that one. I don't think it would work on the ceramics I do. Due to the fact that they are fired at such a high temp.

Nope if I fired it after I painted it, the paint would burn off. Depending on what piece I'm doing I either use a matte finish coat or a high gloss finish coat. On these I used the high gloss coat.

Pd if you can find classes to take, do it. It is fun and relaxing. I do have to tell you though that if you are going to be doing coffee mugs those will need to be refired with glaze on them. Other wise you won't beable to use them. But you can lots of fun picking out the glazes and stuff and come up with some pretty cool patterns. I have done a couple of items that way. I have glazed the inside of a couple of pots, and a spoon rest.

Sheltie, I loved being able to pour my own. But the store that I used to go to closed. And I haven't been able to find anyother place that would let me pour them.
