I love the afghan pap. Did you use a pattern? If so, was it difficult?
I made one afghan, it's called a scrap afghan and you crochet each row with a different color of yarn. I'll see if I can find a pic to show you. The bigger the hook you use, the bigger the gaps between the rows. I tried several hooks until I found one I liked the look of (when I finished a few rows).
Boo, Yes I used a pattern. It wasnt that hard, you have to count each stitch and it gets monotonous but well worth it. I have a couple of pattern books and used one of them for that afghan.

Pape I can't do afghans. Both of my grandmothers tried to teach me. Its good wether its your first, second on 100th. I just wish I could do one. I need to download a few pictures of what I do.
actually my first crocheted project was a rug made from sheet fatory ends. I taught myself the different stitches one day while visiting my sister. She use to make the rugs so while home alone one day I took some fabric and tried and was successful. I will post pics of some of the rugs when I get my camera.

Nice posts Pap.
Something that helps eliminate TOO much gaping is use two strands of yarns. It helps fill it in, and it is much plusher.

I wish I knew how to knit! I was visiting a friend of mine in Omaha a few weeks ago and she had just got done knitting a scarf for a friend of hers. It was so cool! I think I talked her into knitting me one for Christmas! When I was young, my great grandmother taught me how to knit, but unfortunately, I don't remember how to do it.
