I'll start:
I'm obsessesd with a certain member of this board. I am so attached to this person that I feel pain when they don't post. I have to read every one of their posts. I never post to them for fear of giving myself away. Do you think I'm sick or just in love/infatuated?
Whether or not you have a problem depends upon several factors. One consideration would be your age. If you are a young to mid teen, your emotions are probably harmless and natural. At this age young people are normally attracted to those that they can admire from a distance (celebraties, forum members, etc.) Subconsciously, an attraction to someone from a distance makes the situation safe for the person feeling such emotions. It is highly unlikely that they will ever meet. Therefore, it is a safe "love". The person "in love" can mentally create the love of their life through their fantasies and beliefs that they actually know the other person. No harm done their. It is a natural part of growing up - hence all of the fan clubs, etc.
However, if you are a mature adult that has created a mental illusion that you know this person well enough to be in love, that is a problem. It does not mean that you are a bad person. It is a signal to you that you should consult a professional. There is no possible way that you can "know" this person from a forum. If you also think that this person feels the same as you, again you are mentally creating this situation and should consult some help. How serious your problem is or could become, can not be determined by a passing poster - me. Again, many factors would have to be determined. For example: has this happened to you before, how often, how did those infatuations work out, does this situation make you angry, how much of your waking time do these feelings occupy, is your sleep disturbed, etc.
Your situation might be resolved by something as simple as spending more time away from the forum.
I am not a professional. I am just giving you my insight and hopefully have helped a little by doing so. This was not a judgement of you personally. I do not know you. These observations are based soley upon your post on this forum.
