I'm actually posting this one for my darling hubby, who would never go here. We get so irritated at the fast food restaurant employees. They are all so dumb!! I mean really dumb, especially the drive thrus. If it wasn't so irritating, it might be funny, but these are some examples of what we contend with: I ordered 2 large cokes----employee says, a salad on the side?.......i burst out laughing that time but I really am wondering this--salad on the side of what? my truck? please!
My husband orders two large coca-colas, thinking that by saying coca-colas, they won't confuse that with 2 large cones at Dairy Queen. We get to the window and she gives us a large sprite and a large vanilla cone...ha!! what gives?
We order something and they give us something else all the time. A small french fry becomes a sprite...huh? A medium order of french fries becomes a strawberry sundae at mcdonald's.....well, you get the gist of what I'm saying.
And it's every darn one of those fast food places and not just where we live.....it's where we travel to also....I realize it's a job that doesn't pay a lot, but don't these people have any sense at all? They look normal, but maybe they all have hearing problems? If they can't hear us properly, why don't they just ask us when we get to the window. We have even had them repeat our order when we paid and still, they left items out of our bag and we had to go back. Ridiculous!! Let me know if anyone else goes thru this nonsense on a regular basis...once in while really wouldn't upset me, but this is every time I go to one of the fast food places.
thanks for your input.

well dear, I don't think we ever get what we pay for anymore and why should fast food be considered peanuts? Have you eaten at any fast food restaurants lately? It's not that cheap in case you haven't noticed. Funny, but I do like your comment, but also I'm really looking for someone to be on my side here. Thanks!

Lance, you don't live in SC do you? Because that comment sounds an awful lot like my Mother!! No offense - but, she considers herself above the Fast Food places.

dezerai, I know exactly what you mean. If we could get the peanuts we pay for, we wouldn't complain!! Right? It seems like 90% of the time something is left out or substituted. Have you ever seen the Lethal Weapon Part 2 (I think), where they go through the drive thru? It always made me cringe to hear Joe Pesci spout that foul language, but he was right. He said every time you go throught the drive thru you are taken advantage of (he didn't say it that nicely - but you get the picture).

And about the prices - there are several dine in restaurants around that are less expensive for our family than the drive thrus. But, sometimes (especially with children) that is where we go.

I'm sorry Lance. I should have reread before I posted.

You are right. The quantity of the paycheck does affect the quality of the worker! And for monkeys, I guess they are doing pretty well!! LOL

Well, I guess I'll let everyone know that I worked a couple of fast food places and I was young, 16 or 18 and made my share of mistakes too, but not on a constant basis like my complaint was originally about. I'm happy to announce that we went to Arby's today and they actually had my order right. The reciept was a bit wacko, but the order was good. Of all the fast food places I've visited and it is a lot of them---Arby's is the best at getting the order right and being courteous. The people at McDonald's and Wendy's must really have miserable pay scales or bosses cuz those people are always in bad moods and they make the most mistakes. Not all of them are young kids that work in those places either, just the majority. Maybe I should ask if anyone has a funny fast food experience and turn this into a positive thread instead of a negative one? Note: I do have some very wealthy friends and they still go thru the fast food places probably as much as I do. It's because we are all so busy and the food is edible, not necessarily good or even good for you and certainly not cheap like it used to be,ya know, back in the good ol' days--whenever that was. Wink I think it's the fact that we have too much to do in too little time and there's no energy left for cooking once we wind down the day and who really goes home for lunch anymore? We can only tolerate cold sandwiches for so long. *Fast Food Story: I worked at the Sonic Drive Inn when I was 16 and we had those little table top things out by the speakers that you sit the tray on. A couple drove up and ordered two of the giant red sodas and those things were really big, like 48 oz or so.....they were dressed in prom wear and had a very nice car. I sat their order down on that little table top thing and it was broken...Oh man!! It just flipped that tray and those sodas right into the poor guy's lap. Bright red soda all over Mr. Handsome's white tux and his date's very light pink prom dress. Do you know how small I felt and how I just knew this guy was going to go nuts and kill me?! I could have crawled into a hole. The guy let me off without a hitch....I couldn't believe it and to this day, I still feel bad about that. It was an honest accident, but hey, it was prom night.....oh my!! guess that's one prom night those two will never forget!! Anybody else got an experience to share or a complaint? Please do.

Our story is similar to yours, only it was in a restaurant, one of those in-between-tween the Fast Foods and the Upscale.

My husband and I had just come a wake for a friend. We were dressed nicely - hubby in 3 piece suit. The waiter was very nice, but new and nervous. When he brought a pitcher of beer to our table, it slid off the tray and all over my husband and I. We were seated at the end of the table, so we caught all of it!! Needless to say we smelled like beer during the drive home. I was so afraid that we would be pulled over by the police. I told my husband that if we were pulled over, I would have to insist on a breath analyzer (sp?). I don't drink beer, but I am sure an officer would never have believed it!! We smelled like a brewery!!

We weren't upset either. He was new and trying hard. The manager came out and told us our meals were free. We told him that we were fine and the waiter was good. My husband left a tip in the amount of one of the meals.

I just love animals too and I'm a terribly busy person with little and no time to cook most of the time and my husband hates cold sandwiches. We are trying to have less fast food these days, but still we do end up there from time to time. Have a good one!! Dez

Dez, is this for real? If so that is terrible.

But, for her to sue - for a $100,000 no less - that is ridiculous. She apparently wasn't so horrified that she couldn't hold it and pose for photos. In that case why does she think she is entitled to anything other than a free meal.

Others might disagree. But I think this is a large part of what is wrong in the world today. Like most people I have lost track of the outrageous things that have happened to me over the years. I am quite sure some of them could have made for a lawsuit. But I was never permanently injured - my gosh.

hi rayna: i honestly don't know if it's for real--a friend of mine in Canada emailed me that picture and she didn't keep the website it came off of.....I thought it was pretty wild. I do know that about 6 weeks after first opening our local Church's Fried Chicken, my aunt picked up a batch of their chicken and when she got home, there was a real fried rat in it..She kept it and showed it to us---it was battered and all!! Of course that was way back when too and people didn't sue for stuff normally. I've had canned sodas that I was drinking (more than one time) with a piece of glass in them. Funny, they were canned sodas, not the bottled ones. I've gotten stories from lots of people on stuff like this, but you never know. I was sort of trying to make a funny out of the mcdonald's thing earlier....it would be better if i knew for sure, though. Maybe we should get people to tell their stories here??just a thought.

McDonalds fried chicken head 'a mystery'

A food inspector in the US says he can't explain how a fully-fried chicken head ended up in a woman's McDonalds meal.

Dr Mohamed Ibraheim of the Department of Agriculture said chickens are usually beheaded before they're boiled and, even if the head made it through this process, two inspections should have found it.

Katherine Ortega said she ordered a box of fried chicken wings at McDonalds in Newport News, Virginia, only to find the head - with beak and feathers still visible.

Dr Ibraheim said: "I have no idea how it happened. I have never heard anything like it."

Owner of the restaurant, John E Smith, says he's determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, but that he needs to see the head to start his investigation.

He told the Daily Press: "Although I have made several requests to see this object, the customer refuses to give me that opportunity."

Hi, I guess the thing that bothers me is that Chicken McNuggets are minced chicken pieces with bread fillers. They aren't whole pieces of chicken. The box in the original photo looks like it was a large box - maybe 20 pieces - not the kid size 6 pack. It just makes me wonder. I am interested to hear the outcome of the investigation.

Okay people that was really thoughtless. To insinuate that those employees that earn minimum wage aren't worth more than minimum wage?! You need to go back and re read your posts! I started out with a minimum wage job when I was a teen and moved into management positions at restaurants and convienient stores. Not only that I was General Manager of a Travel Center which included a fuel desk, restaurant and motel. That is so cruel to make fun of someone who works for minimum wage. To judge their intelligence by their paycheck is a terrible thing to do. My parents taught me there was never cause to feel embarassed or ashamed of my wage. Just to feel privledged to have a job and not only that, but to have a job serving others! I not only managed travel centers at one time, but I sold insurance on commission. While selling insurance, in six months due to the fact that I had far exceeded what my projected earning potential would be for the first six months, I was sent to the corporate office to meet the President of the company, and was given VIP treatment. Not only that, but when I returned home, the District Manager told the other agents to take heed and learn from whatever I would share about the secret of my success. My main point here is this: Don't ever judge a person's brains or potential by their paycheck!

Whitefish, you are exactly right. But, don't jump everyone on this thread. It was actually only Lance and I that did that. You are correct. It was very childish of me. I have worked for minimum wage several times in my life. In between teaching positions I worked third shift on conveyor belt. At the time I already had a Masters degree and 5 areas of teaching certification. When one of the supervisors called me down for talking while working, it was a very "leveling" experience.

Every time i go to mcdonalds, i get a double cheeseburger without pickles or onions, and almost every time they mess up the order. Nothing but Bread, Beef and cheese; or everything; or no onions, but pickles; or onions, but no pickles. McDonalds is pretty messed up. I think everyone should go to Sit -down, old fashioned type restaurants, but no one has the time to do that in this fast paced world.
