Thanks for the input Joe and you are so right. Every time we go to McD's, my husband orders the big mac without lettuce or pickles and I'll tell you why. Because that way, they have to make it fresh and not just hand him one that has been sitting there for a couple of hours. He only found that out by accident and so now, he orders that way on purpose. Have you ever noticed how soggy the lettuce is on the big mac's? That is what irked him in the first place.

I noticed at our local McDonald's that there is a sign that says "please have your money ready at the window". Does that give anyone a clue about the type of people who work there? Not meaning to just pick on the ol big mac attack place here, but I thought it was very tasteless putting that sign up when you have to sit and wait at the window for them to come and get the money and then you have to drive to a second window to get your order and more than half the time, they screw it up. What's even worse is at our McDonald's, they have that little digital screen that prints your order right there for you to read. Now please tell me how they mess it up when it's all written down for them? Figure that one out and you can be our next president.

Update on my fast food experience today: We went to Dairy Queen and ordered 2 large cokes. The girl said, one small coke? My husband said, no, 2 large cokes. Then she said, oh, two large cones. Then my husband said, no 2 large cokes (louder) and I said 2 large coca-colas in the background and she must have heard me because she said, oh 2 large coca colas, right? hahahaha!! lmao

McDonalds now has a screen that shows your order after you have placed it, so you can verify that it is correct before you pull forward. However in my town, it's been broke almost since the first day they used it!
Hi whitefish: they have that screen at our mcd's and we went there last night as a matter of fact. We ordered food only and it was on the screen...when we paid, my husband had the girl repeat the order (just because) and she said it right. When we got to the second window, they guy says 2 cups of ice and 2 small cones, right? My husband says wrong!! and not for $7 either buddy. So he gets the right order and my husband looked in the bag and it looked okay. When we got home he got the regular big macs even though he had ordered them with no pickles and no lettuce and it was on the screen and both of the employees at the window repeated it back to him and it was even on the receipt that way. Sometimes we get all the winners!! ahhahaaha!!!

DogBabi, I had a laugh when I read your post! Human beings.......we screw up a lot don't we? I usually get no napkins with my order, or else about 6 napkins for one burger! They must think I am a sloppy eater. More recently I have gotten home twice without my dipping sauce for my chicken nuggets! Not to mention I didn't get my fries recently too. I just hate to check the bag in front of them.
Yesterday the girl at the second window handed me the hamburger first and said "here is your diet coke, oh hambburger I mean." I myself was in another world and pulled forward, but as I did I heard her holler "did you get your coke?" I looked down and I hadn't. So this girl leans clear out the window trying to get the car behind me to back up so I could back up to the window! I said to her "can't you bring the coke out to me?" "Oh sure, just pull forward." I'm laughing so hard now as I type this. It really was so funny. Someone ought to write a book about McDonalds Restaurant! ( that's an idea, maybe I will, but they would sue me) It's really due to lack of good training I think, and good screening when they hire! Besides mostly kids work there ( but not always) and you know where teenagers minds are.......boyfriends, girlfriends, parties etc! Some are just there to make enough money to buy clothes and makeup, etc. Teenagers.......ya gotta love em! Whitefish

I am a manager at a Arby's in pa how many of you have ever worked fast food. The mic's suck and normally your under staffed 5 days a week. At my store we give orders out wrong but were only human thursday the 3rd my shift did 5,000 dollars in sales with that many people eating fast food it gets hard to keep up. We also get many busses a day and can have them in and out in 30 min. please don't say all fast food is slow and hire dumbies they only last 1-2 wks in my store. Also all managers at my store have some kind of college ed. mine is LVT but rescueing dogs and caring for animals in a office just got to much to handle. Also our stor starts all employees out at 5.60 and up never at min
jd: i am not meaning to blast the employees and i have worked in a few fast food establishments in my lifetime and i know how hard the work is and how fast paced. I really do think this is an interesting topic and when i started it, i was wondering if i was the only person being constantly tortured by the fast food industry....hey, techinically, it isn't only fast food -- it's any restuarant that you order food to go in.....but I visit fast food places the most because I am so busy. I don't know if I might have commented earlier that I went to an Arby's and that got my order right and at that particular one, they usually do. It's not only McDonald's that makes mistakes on my order, it's every fast food joint and I was beginning to wonder if I had a sign on my head that only they could see that said,"hey, ya'll, mess up my order" or something...hahaha...please don't take this column personally...I just really like to hear everyone else's experiences. I could fill a few volumes of Whitefish's book by myself...Grin...
