Whoa..no you are not nuts, but your are, without a doubt, OCD. And one of the most fascinating I've heard of. That is VERY interesting that you do that. Give me some more examples if you don't mind...

For example: "Strange Obssesive" would need to become "Strang Obsesiv." in order for me to let it go and move on to something else. Weird huh? I did it for years and years, don't do it much anymore, but every once in a while I find myself counting someones name out on my fingers.

I also never have and never will pick out fruit or vegetables, or bulk items, in odd numbers.....I always count them as they go in the bag to make sure I have an even number. Yet my lucky number is 7. Me thinks me nuts.

I am soooo freaked out right now you guys don't even know. Actually, freaked out isn't the word for it. FASCINATED is more like it. I spent years working with people with OCD/ADD/ADHD, etc, and never got the insight that I've found here. I'm so excited. Do any of you have obsessions like this: my husband is classic OCD, and here are some of his idiosyncrsies: EVERYTHING he does has to be in increments of "5". When he locks the door, he has to pull on it 5 times...if he messes up and pulls on it 6 times..then he has to go to 10. When he kisses me, it has to be 5 times, or 10 times, or 15 times, etc.

If we go to a public place to eat (McDonald's, Red Lobster, etc), when we leave...OUR chairs have to be pulled out away from the table, but ALL other chairs have to be pushed in!!! LOL!!! We can NEVER sit in red chairs.

I can't sit in a chair that has rubber knobs on the legs...

Our shed has a padlock on it, and when we lock it, you MUST pull on it in increments of "5" to make sure it's REALLY locked.

Oh, boy I could go on and on and on....this is really a good subject (I think)

Hi Everyone...Lets see...where do I start... Smile
When I park my car I open the door to see where the line is and I open and close the door 15 times...If I mess up and forget count, I start all over...It must look looney by passerbyers...When I type I have to put 3 dots at the end of each sentence and I can only type in my journal on Thurs...When I lock a door, I look at the lock, look away and then do that 9 more times...If I memorize a phone number it has to be repeated in increments of 25 times...I play songs over and over in my head to the point it will keep me awake at night...Not a whole lot of fun... banana

Just-Me...You sound JUST like my husband. Go back to the last page and read my post about him. Everything he does revolves around numbers and increments of numbers. YOU are not alone!!! I only posted a few of his "issues" with numbers. Thank God, I AM NOT ALONE!!!

My husband is outside right now snow blowing our driveway. Each path has to be gone over 5 times whether it needs it or not. I heard him hitting pavement and yelled out the door to ask what the problem was.. He gave me a dirty look and told me to go watch TV!!! I KNOW what the problem is. After 2-3 paths, the snow is gone, but since he has to do it FIVE times, the last two passes are on bare cement!!!!!!

He taps his knuckles 3 times on the table surface (or whatever is in front of him), when he's nervous. He says that gives him good luck. If he wants LOTS of luck, he taps several times, always in 3-tap intervals. God forbid if he loses count...he has to start all over again....

I have spent years doing a meaningless thing, but I wouldn't call it anything OCD, just a harmless "timewaster" That is, unless you tell me otherwise.

I have to take a sentence, the more words the harder, and AS QUICKLY as possible, I pair up the letters there are two of disregarding the other letters. I then have to make a word, or as many words as I can. e.g.
border collies
2 r's (paired up make one)
2 l'ls = 1
2 e's = 1 e
2 o's = 1 o
======= ROLE!!!!!!!
Tragic or what........
