Does anyone know anyone that has this personality disorder. I have a family member who does and its driving us all nuts. They have no ability to think of anyone else but themselves 24 hours a day. no one else exists.
In seriousness, this disorder can be very difficult to deal with. I differentialte between the "normal" narcisisit and what I call the "wounded" narcissist.
The former exhibits the standard symtoms of grandisosity and entitielment amongst other symptoms. The wounded is prone to greater mood swings that are more difficult to deal with because to the severity of them.
Be careful of the rage responses that go along with this. The classic phsychoanalytical approach can be found by the works of Otto Kernberg and Heinz Kohut.
