I have about 1.5 bottles of wine a nite with dinner and afterward while winding down. I want to know if that is considered alcoholic. Does anyone else drink that much out there?

Well, personally, I love to unwind during and after dinner as well.....but I limit it to about 2-3 glasses of wine. 1 1/2 bottles sounds like alot to me......try cutting back a bit........

let the good times roll. Wine is good for the heart, and it has flavenoids, which are excellent anti-oxidants. It melts cholestorol like heat on wax. Drink, but dont get drunk.

and have good sex.

1.5 bottles a nite.. Doesn't sound like alot to me. If you think about it there is alot of BEER drinkers out there and there is no difference.

An Alcoholic to me is someone who can't stop drinking, who will spend their last dime on booze and who losses their jobs, house and family due to their binge drinking.

Are you happy? Do you drink to cover pain? If you're happy and drink to relax then you're fine.

Wine is actually good for your blood and your body. "Believe it or not" it thins your blood out. Wine isn't hard liqour really so you really have no health problems.

You should go for a check up just incase. Make sure you take NO medication with it as well.

God Bless and Have Fun!

In all honesty I don't think drinking at all is a good idea, and it sounds like you are drinking quite a bit. It can cause liver damage and if you believe in God and His word you shouldn't drink at all.
Proverbs 20:1 "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging; and whosoever is decieved thereby is not wise."
I would advise you to get help to get your life back in control without alcohol.Even if your not a true alcoholic it can take control of your life eventually, I have seen it happen to friends. I used to drink(weekends not everyday) and it made my life more difficult and set a terrible example for my children. When I quit I saw a huge difference in my life and the lives of my children. I pray you make the right decision.

"Only when the last plant has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realize that we cannot eat money."

If you think you drink to much, then in a round about way you are acknowledging that you have a drinking problem. Most people have a misconception of what defines or constitutes an alcoholic. I would suggest you do a little research on the subject. I come from a family of current or sober alcoholics and I am married to a sober alcoholic. I would suggest that you open your phone book and find the number for Alcoholics Anonymous or an equivalent program in your area. You will find support and direction through these programs. I would say that you need to take control over your drinking. Get the help you need now while you are in the acknowledgment phase or you may find yourself destined for a long period of hardship before you hit rockbottom.

drink, drink and be merry. what are you worried about. 90% belongs to genetics so you are going to go when you go. 10% you control thru diet, exercise, and good mental well being. gina

an alcoholic by definition is a person who has to have a drink when they get up in the morning in order to be able to face the day. a true alcoholic cannot leave any alcohol in the house--they feel they must consume every ounce of it, no matter what condition they might be in at the time. I would try and not drink for a while and see what affect it has on you. Ask yourself why you are really drinking and are you using it as some kind of crutch. All kinds of people drink, but mostly lonely people and people who can't stand living in the real world. Life can be very harsh and only you truly know if you have a problem or not. If you suspect it's serious, please seek counseling or attend an AA meeting--they're free and they're confidential. Good luck!!

Nina: if this is an everyday occurance, then yes, you have a drinking problem. If you are worried enough to ask about it, you are halfway there.

Yup, you're definitely a LUSH!! One or two glasses of wine at dinner is fine, in fact some say it's even good for you. ONE or TWO, not a bottle and a half....you most definitely have a drinking problem. Lighten up on the booze or you'll look like an old hag in a few years!
