Makes sense! I do have a pug, but she is a spayed pet! I breed and show persians and himalayans. I guess I should change my "name" to something more appropriate for that

Yummy wide set eyes and just all 'round SCRUMPTIOUS!
Let me know where you're going so me and Pistol can head the other way.
Some are here because they hope to make a difference, others like to roll around in the feces. You'll be able to "sniff them out" in no time. -DJ's Doxies,
She's beautiful! I love the faces on those Hymalayan's. Someday, hopefully, I'll own one.
Are all Hymalayan's "flat faced?" (poor choice of words, but I don't know the breed.)
Someone I know breeds them too, but the faces are often different, some flat some not and it came to light that she was breeding her hymalayans with her Persians.

Jo, a Himalayan IS a Persian. The term Himalayan simply is a descriptive word for the type of Persian it is. It's like saying you have a red persian or a blue persian...a Himalayan Persian is a Persian that is color pointed and has blue eyes. It is totally acceptable to breed the two together as they are both registered as Persians. They are not two separate breeds as many people think they are.
There are some who choose to only breed Persians and some who choose to only breed Himalayan Persians, but MANY breeders have both in their breeding programs and it is totally acceptable.
Years and years ago, they were considered a separate breed, but they were merged into the Persian category about 40 some years ago.
Oh and btw PM, she IS beautiful!!

CJK is right..........although I think the Himi became a Color Point Persian in 1984?
When the term Himi is used, it is now related only to pattern.
Flat faces? No, not all Persians exhibit a "flat" face. A short, broad, snub, nose is ONE ingredient towards show quality, but by its self is still just a pet.
Pugmoms' girl is an extremely nice example of a "Show Quality" Persian, who should easily earn her Grandchampionship at a young age.

I did think they were two different breeds...and that this person I spoke of was "crossbreeding" ooops.. Live and Learn!
Good info..appreciated CJK and Hu!

To make it easy they can just say a Himi is a long haired siamese with a smashed face. LOL
