I just thought of something...and I also just asked another judge and he wasn't sure and suggested I call and check but, this is the scenario:
A puppy I co-bred, who has my kennel name on him, was sold to a friend who is a well-known, breeder judge...just as a companion. She doesn't show anymore. I am sure you can guess who it is, she's one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES!
We transferred ownership, but I am listed as co-breeder, with my kennel name. Technically, I can't show my special anymore, can I?
Under her, I would think not. There are MANY who would bad mouth you if you did show to her with her owning one of your dogs. But really, how many people know?? If it is just a companion, I would say that yes you could show to her. There are many who say if you have any kind of dealing with another, you don't show to that person. They will call favoritism. Even though we know she would pick the best dog regardless.
No you cant show to her until 6 months I think. A well known judge had one of my dogs and I could not show to her but now I can and I did and will again. No one cares. We didn't win under her either.
We were chatting with the AKC rep at a recent show and we asked him about perceived improprieties since somethings simply are not covered by existing rules.
What he told us was, IF it has the appearance of being improper, then don't do it, because even IF there is actually nothing improper about it that is not what others see.
We have both become quite good friends with a nice couple who are both judges. Technically, we could show to them, but we both told them, that we will not show to either of them anymore, because of that relationship. Now we showed to them in the past and did VERY well, and it was after that, that we became more social. We have a breed in common, and they also show that breed, which is how we became social.
Its our choice, to not show to them, because of how others will see it.
