Fine CJK, I can see your position, but my son is knocking on Heavens door daily too and I need a release. This fool that posts under TH gives me that little bit of time that takes my mind off my son's position.
This board goes dead without this "trivial shit" and you know it! Nobody can ask a meaninful question without either being ignored or trashed, so they have stopped doing it, I know I have.
I get up early, my dogs are cared for, they run underfoot, then I stay up late and complete the process. Nine out of ten times, I have two dogs sitting on my lap while I'm on this stupid forum, the rest are at my feet or running around outside diggin holes.
I too have issues, my home is in the middle of renovations, which I had to leave unfinished to help out with my other son in another area, so we all have things going on in our lives.
People will always be the same, Iraq or not!

Also, I have a question. Do turtles require their nails to be trimmed or do they trim them naturally by scratching on rocks??? That has had me puzzled for a long time.
Okay, so you might all think I'm being stupid here...and maybe I am. But I want to say something and you can all take it for what it's worth.
My youngest child is in Iraq right now. He's been there for 9 months and won't be home (if he's lucky) until February.
I only get to speak to him every week or two because they don't really have ready access to the internet or phone service over there. But when I do talk to him, the stories he tells me of their living conditions make me want to cry.
And then I come here.....

I'm not retyping it, so read my response to the dogs in the post I wrote to CJK. As for neglected dogs, don't tread where have no knowledge, insinuation such as those are not taken lightly by me. My dogs are well cared for, computer or not. You are correct about one thing..dysfuctional should be the name of this forum, not Pluba. And no, I don't care who TH is, she/they are just entertainment.

I understand CJK, and appreciate your reply. My son is in the Peace Corps, but the word "peace" has taken a whole new meaning now as they are being attacked now too. Things have changed "over there" and it is very scary and upsetting.
I lost my mom a couple of years ago, and I extend you empathy regarding your dad, it's not easy I know.
TH may have her/his/their problems too, perhaps it's best to just ignore them/her/it??
Never give up hope..our boys will come home all in one piece and hopefully not too traumatized.
My dad was military, he did not do well after he came home, it took years for him to become himself again. I don't want to see my kid go through that.
Ya know, every day, I write an email, where it goes, I don't know, I address it to my son, but seldom do I hear back...I "get" where you are coming from.
Edited to add: My other two sons, young ones, are airline pilots and as grandious as that sounds, as a Mom, I live in perpetual fear!! Everytime I hear of a crash or a plane in trouble,terrorism, I run to the news in a panic.

Thanks and thanks to everyone else also. I will keep your son in my prayers as well.
Sorry to hear about your mom. I think my dad is going to be okay. They found the tumor early (stage 1), so although he has to go through 37 radiation treatments, they are pretty optimistic that will zap it and he won't have to endure chemo.
Unfortunately, it took them like 6 weeks to make the diagnosis/prognosis, so it was 6 wks of torture "not knowing".
Things like this just have a way of bringing me back to reality and realizing that sometimes my priorities get screwed up...and what I may think is important at the moment, really isn't at all.

Joe and CJK I pray that both your sons are ok and they make it back to you safe and sound...
Nobody ever told us with kids comes heartbreak... I know when my daughter told me she was getting married I cried for days because I thought I was going to loose her forever.. I don't know why I felt that way.. I was happy for her but at the same time I was also sad.. I guess for some strange reason I didn't want to face the fact that someone else was going to be in my daughters life as much as I am and I felt like they were going to take her away from me.... Stupid huh? The best day of my life was when she was born and I held that new little life in my arms and kissed her little face.. She's the love of my life and I would do anything for her..
I know that's nothing close to what you're both going through.. but I know what it feels like to have your kids grow up and us as parents not have any say in what happens to them or what kind of choices they make in their life as adults.. If we could only hold on to them forever to make sure their safe and no harm ever comes to them... I would be less stressed out I tell ya...
