They are lovely.

The red esp. does have bad feet. I have seen some puppies go down on pasterns during growth phase, but those feet are really bad. Will be interesting to see if there is any improvement with age. Hopefully so.

Definitely prefer the cream overall (tho there are a few things I prefer on the red); don't care for the expression on the red, in addition to those flat feet. As far as super short blunt muzzles, this is where everyone - including top winning fanciers in the breed - have differing opinions and have to decide what "moderately short" and "slightly pointed" as called for in the BREED STANDARD** means to them. But I do not see "moderately short" and "slightly pointed" on the red (could partially be the angle?) - a too short, too blunt muzzle is every bit as incorrect as slightly too long or slightly too pointed. Then again, all dogs have faults.

Personally I am happy to see the more moderate - and in my view (and the view of quite a few in the breed I have spoken to) more correct - headpieces being put up. Better for the breed IMO.

Cream is very nice.

Good luck with them.

**TO THOSE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE CHIHUAHUA STANDARD, CHECK OUT THE ILLUSTRATED BREED STANDARD ON THE CHIHUAHUA CLUB OF AMERICA WEBSITE (WITH PICTURES). You'll find there is a wide variety of looks in finished champions, including top ranked BISS winners, but not many have the extreme short, blunt muzzle.

umm are they not both smooth coats? i guess im a moron but i thought they were both smoothes.a bit different in coat but they dont have any fringe that im seeing, now lets talk about how much ol rats the byb no show-er knows those pasterns are not an issue. flat feet yes, but the pasterns are F-I-N-E fine but im sure that rats is not quite sure what a pastern is maybe consult your online gurue mentors for that ratshole. right now i can only fault the feet and that is nitpicking the rest is just amazing and of course rats cant see that these dogs fit the standard so far much more than hers ever will. i just bet those feet will come back to i think those puppies probably dont do a lot of walking on gravel and so feet will tighten as they do more i think. beeee-uuuuu-teeee-full heads, bone, angulation, toplines, ears, domeing, rears, overal substance now those are chihuahuas!!!!!!!!!!

for rats, the pasterns are the area on the front legs between the end of the big bottom pad of the foot to the dewclaw pad there is only a minor deviation from straight up and down in those puppies and that will correct itself and if it doesnt it is still not an issue just a very few degrees from perfect learn your dog anatomy and show those hopefuls you hypocritical moron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Bratz. Both are smooths. And lovely! And I also agree the feet could very well tighten.

Re: Gravel... Glad you added that to your post, now that's something else I've learned. I have a long gravel driveway, which is gated off and my dogs at time are out there with me while I do gardening...that won't happen again!

I hate to ass-ume, but I take it you knew the meaning of that term the moment you bought your first dog!!!!!

Quite the accomplishment.

If You Do Not Know What The Term's Are, Or Definitition's Then You Should Not Be Breeding, Because Obivously You Have No Clue, Or Understanding Or Comprehension Of What The Breed Standard For Any Breed, Including Your Own Would Mean.

Just Like RatLady, You Prove Your True Talent At Back Yard Breeding Skills With Every Post You Make.

Really? Are You 100% Sure? We Are Willing To Bet, That We Have More Champion's Than You Do?

You Refer To Us As A Liar, But The Truth Is, You Do Not Know Shit About Who We Are, Or What Breed We Have.

We Know What Posting Is. We Know What A Hare Foot Is. You, In Spite Of Your Whining About It In Another Thread Knew Full Well What Merle and Dapple Were/Are Because In One Of Your Very First Threads On This Forum You Shared Your Vast Knowledge Of Merle/Dapple.

You're Nothing More Than A Crock Of Shit.

Maybe that's why I don't breed dogs. I asked the question because I did not know what it meant. And I still don't. I also don't know what a hare foot is...but again, I do not breed dogs.

Well as an outsider looking in, I happen to prefer the shorter muzzles. I think it makes them MUCH more attractive than the longer muzzled chis. The longer muzzles (IMO) make them look more like terriers.

It's funny, you think things are faults when you can't breed them yourself huh Rats?? You don't like the heads (how can you tell expression, you can't see the face from the front??) because it is something you yourself cannot breed. Pasterns have nothing to do with the paws in these pics. I'm not making excuses for my girls for no dog is perfect, they have a flatter foot then I like at this time (see the link to the other thread when Emily has PERFECT feet-JuJu did too) BUT both of them are posting which means they are leaning back away from my hand while they are stacked. That pulls the foot out of the position it was originally placed in. Imagine that foot pushed forward, the foot would go directly into the correct position. Their sire and dam both have correct feet. Like I said before, if that is the only thing that can be picked on, I'll take it anyday, at least people recognize them as Chihuahuas...

As far as the coat, for someone who does not breed Chihuahuas, knowing these are puppies, it could easily be confused as a long coat with the bit of whispies on the belly, tail and chest. The average person doesn't know what a long coat looks like at all the growing stages. I have seen LC puppies that have less coat then this at this age!! JuJu has a totally different coat then Emily and to compare the two, you may think they were the seperate coats.

Aww, they are both very nice little guys. For some reason though, I have never cared for the long coated chis (as adults). I don't know why really..just personal preference I guess.

So naturally, I am partial to the first one.

LOLOLOL, had I MEANT the puppy was down in PASTERNS I would have SAID down in PASTERNS. But I said BAD/FLAT FEET which of course is different. Roll Eyes I merely pointed out that I have seen puppies go down in pasterns while maturing but were good as adults. A growing thing. These flat feet, who knows if they will get better. I hope so for your sake.

LMBO that you think I could not breed an incorrectly short. blunt muzzle, that's a good one - thanks for starting my day with a laugh! rotflol I do have have one dog (Bingo) that has such an incorrect too short, blunt muzzle and I PURPOSEFULLY breed AWAY from it, you silly goose (being kind)!

But if that makes you feel better, Amberleigh, knock yourself out. rotflol rotflol rotflol

Like I said, pretty puppies, LOVE the cream, don't care so much for the red for the reasons noted, tho she does have nice conformation overall.

rotflol Still laughing ... rotflol

Yeah, I guess you're right Amberleigh ... my poor long nosed puppies don't even look like Chihuahuas:

I know, BAD stack, her first time ever as a very young puppy, on the bed, holding her with one hand, taking picture with the other, but makes the point nonetheless.

Thank you CJK, she's a pretty little girl, tho her topline is not as level as I like (one of my personal bugaboos). But in any event she only reached 2-1/2 lbs so I gave her to a friend who simply adored her upon her visits.

She is living the life of a spoiled princess, as it should be! Can't even conceive of anyone trying to breed these tiny girls (I won't breed anything under 4 lbs and for several years almost every single one of my female puppies matured between 2-1/2 - 3-1/2 lbs., very frustrating!), but some #*@)&^#*@('s (can't really call them "breeders" 'cuz that is SUPPOSED to mean something more than just reproducing puppies) actually brag on how tiny their females are ... don't even get me started on that one!
