Just got an ARBA leg of grand champion certificate in the mail today.
The first for my blue otter mini-rex doe, at a mini-rex specialty.
I had just gotten her that morning. Now only two more to go!
Smile

Congrats TW!!! Is this you first time getting a leg?? I used to raise and show Chinchilla Mini Rex, Granded quite a few. Got to the point I wouldn't keep anything that didn't grand. It is VERY hard to Grand a chin being that competition is very sparse. We got a leg at the Mini Rex Nationals and at several specialites. It is hard not to have my Mini Rex (I just LOVE them) but they are just too much work and are too stinky......

Otters, I love them. Nice buck. He looks a tad long in shoulder and maybe peaks a bit soon but he looks like he has decent depth (compared to his structure). I like his little masculine head. I like your doe, has she had any litters?? She looks a bit hippy which would come with being a bit out of condition from a litter. Like her pattern, would like to see more color (I like um LOUD!) but that's JMO. She has a pretty doe head. both have decent ear length. Satins, I know nothing about, I was so obsessed with Mini Rex that I never paid attention.

Here is a decendant of my foundation doe. This doe was being housed at a friend's home while I was in the process of moving. We planned on going to a rabbit show one weekend. When I came over I noticed my doe was out of condition, found out she was having her 8 year old daughter feed the rabbits every day and this doe was not getting her full ration. I took her anyway because I had friend's dependant on this being a leg in chins. So I took her (she wasn't sick or anything, her coat and flesh were not in good tone). Judge was Molly Covert (WELL KNOWN Mini rex breeder-one of the TOP breeders IMO). Molly went over her and said that she couldn't place the doe high because she was out of condition. Later, Molly told me that if she had been in condition, she would have had breed...no small feat for a chin!! She said that the doe carried some of the best structure she has ever felt!! I never did get to show her again, she pulled a nail Frown

How facinating!

That Otter coloration is awesome. Do they all have the white around the eye? Kind of reminds me of what us Persian breeders strive for in the Smoke Division. A solid when in repose, but a pure white undercoat..?

I hope you two continue this discussion, as I would love to learn along with you. Cool

Some are here because they hope to make a difference, others like to roll around in the feces. You'll be able to "sniff them out" in no time. -DJ's Doxies,

I don't have The Standards of Perfection available to me right now to tell you more (somewhere in the moving boxes still)But yes they do need eye rims as well trim under the chin, belly and a tan tangle behind the ears.
