Could it be some read a post she made wanting to join CCA ONLY to vote on this merle issue?

I seem to remember that floating around.

why would that matter??? there are at least half a dozen that made no bones about it that they wanted to do it to "make sure the DQ passed" and they were accepted???

Your answer is in the "powers that be." The Board of Directors is composed of most who are anti-merle and they are the ones who make the decision about who does/doesn't get in. They have their arms open to the millers and BYB's as long as they reject the merles, yet continue to breed the same poor quality dogs - THAT is ok. Ya gotta wonder what the BOD uses for brains. This is now a control issue and the BOD is lording it over the heads of those who have merles and apply, so don't look for this to get any better because it won't. And that's how it is, unfortunately. Very unfair & descriminatory and such a sad commentary on the breed and all the people who truly love it.

Is it possible to lodge a formal complaint with your CCA to the AKC?

If AKC got enough outstanding show breeders that tried to become members and were denied without merit and proof that they owned merles,and actively show and represent the breed with quality; without a negative AKC history, it may start an inquiry to the matter.

How often is it that the Board of Directors in the CCA are voted in?

One could push for a change of Directors.

Any club that would allow bybers and puppymillers to enter, is a club that needs evaluated. IMHO

Showing and clubs have always been political and the only way to "call for a change" is to "play it" politically.

Show AKC what is happening. Complain,Complain, Complain and never stop until a change is reached.

Write to your dog world magizines, and other well know advertisers and supporters of the breed, let the world read about their conduct. Get it out there... enough that other merle breeds take notice. Have someone with a writing and intellectual skill above most, start writing and campaigning let the people of the dog world see what is happening. Political Clubs won't want the heat! Numberous letters into AKC would be an added help.

And if the people incharge of new members are antimerle.... known merle breeders will never be looked at fairly.

From this outsider's perspective it would seem that most breed clubs are self-serving in their outlook. Maybe they should be but it certainly leaves room for improvement in some areas. Just because something is voted on & passed does not mean it is or will be best for the breed. Some of us are old & have not kept up with things the way we should. I hope that this can not be said of me. Sometimes "new blood" is needed in dog breeding for the dogs as well as in the breed club :-)
