I feed Canine Caviar (Chicken variety)...only down side is the price. Depending on where I buy it, it costs me $50-$60 for a 30 lbs bag which doesn't last long feeding 6 dogs.

I've looked at the Taste of the Wild but it is way to high in protein for my Boxers.

Well, I did some intense digging, and YES, Diamond does make Taste of the Wild food which really bums me out. However, they also make the Chicken Soup for the Cat/Dog Lover's Soul (which I already knew)...but I was hoping to get away from a Diamond food product.

I just think they have too many pies in the oven...BUT I am still going to give this food a chance. So far everyone is doing great on it....

ETA: I DID find the Blue Buffalo brand also and there are two stores within 20 minutes of me that sell it. I'm thinking we may try some on Rocky. He is SOOO freaking picky, but that's Bob's fault...not the food.

Diamond also makes Solid Gold and Canidae. They just recently started making the Canidae but have made the Solid Gold for some time. I used to feed Canidae until their formula change last year (that they didn't bother to tell anyone about) when every dog in my house got sick...vomiting, diarrhea, and severe weight loss. I used to be a huge fan of Canidae and recommended it constantly but I wouldn't touch it now if they gave it to me.

I luckily have an inside track to what's going on in the dog food world. As a matter of fact Eagle Pack was recently bought by an investment company so it won't be long before it's on the shelves in the Pet food chain stores.

Thanks for that info...I fed Felidae a very long time ago but my cats just didn't really seem to like it, so I stopped feeding it.

However, I did feed Eaglepack for a very long time and the only reason I stopped was because the price just kept going up and up...I honestly just couldn't afford it anymore, so I wonder if that is why??

Anyway...an update on the Taste of the Wild food:

Although my cats seems to love it and I was/am impressed with the ingredients, I have discovered a major deal breaker in feeding this food.

Their poop is the most foul smelling crap I have ever smelled in my life! It will literally clear the room. It's HORRIBLE!!!

I have a litter box in my bedroom and I have actually been woken up in the middle of the night because a cat took a dump. I can't stand the smell.

Soo....although I had high hopes for this food, I don't think I will be buying it any longer.

First time I can ever remember actually gagging while cleaning litter boxes. I have a very strong stomach, but this stuff did me in. LOL

I fed taste of the wild for awhile...the wildfowl version..everyone LOVED it..but they had loose stools and didn't maintain weight...so we went back to Pro Plan ...best coats, stools and weight i have ever had....

I have tried numerous foods...wellness, TOTW, Nature's Variety ( think that is it)

I also love The Honest Kitchen...dehydrated raw diet.

I like the high calories, and the high protein.
But my dogs need a HIGH HIGH HIGH caloric/protein/fat content, as my dogs work HARD everyday!

I think our animals are like our children...just because they love it, doesn't make it good for them. LOL

I mean think about it...most kids would LIVE on potato chips and ice cream, but that doesn't mean we, as parents, need to allow it.

I find the whole thing VERY frustrating when dealing with multiple animals.

What does great for a few, doesn't do well for others. And trying to feed different foods to different ones is next to impossible (believe me, I've tried).

It seems the search for the "perfect" food is neverending and impossible. Very annoying...

I am going back to Blue Buffalo for my cat next time I get into town. She keeps puking and it didn't start until after The taste of the wild food. She hardly ever puked on the Blue Buffalo, just a hair ball here and there but this food has been pretty much everyday.
