I decided to just put Pepper in 2 days of the cluster and today she went WB for a 3 point major!!! She is only 7 months and this was her second show.
I was showing all three of my dogs and Mo was put first but then the last go around was put 2nd. I showed my other bitch in BBE and she wont the class!!
I asked another exhibitor if she could take Pepper into WB because LB just needs a major so I stayed on her.
When we were getting picture he told me he loved Pepper and liked her better than WD and wanted to give her BOW but crossed the points so he could get a major too. I was also helping in trying to get him BOW like not stacking her very good.
He also said he really liked my BBE bitch but she was a little long in loin. So probably why Mo was 2nd because right now he is kind of long and Pepper is very square.
Judge was Greg Anderson.

Pepper was 1st in her class again today. Even though we didn't get points I am happy, because it was her second show and she did great.
She is so fun to show. Cant be mad at her because she is so funny, After she is done being examined she gets all happy and boings around but when I move her she knows to calm down and gait. She has that real showy attitude.

I hadn't realized they want them almost square...? Pepper is short! Being a sporting dog, I just assumed a longer loin was correct. Very weird to me. Confused

Congrats on a successful show!

I still like Mo best.

Some are here because they hope to make a difference, others like to roll around in the feces. You'll be able to "sniff them out" in no time. -DJ's Doxies,

Yes they should be square, Bitches get away with being long more than the males. Mo is in an ackward stage and growing long instead of tall. Pepper was longer too. She is a nice bitch with wonderful movement.

Here is part of our standard. Notice it says dog with tails curved toward the head should be severly penalized but this weekend most of the winning dogs and bitches have curved tails. My pups are prefectly straight tails but their mother and Aunt have curved tails so the judges are not looking at that or dont know the standard. Mine aren't gay just curved and I HATE that!! Their parents are not curved and since they are tightly linebred it came from in that line.

Neck, Topline, Body
The neck is of proper length to permit the jaws reaching game to be retrieved, sloping downwards on beautifully curving lines. The nape is rather muscular, becoming gradually larger toward the shoulders. Moderate throatiness is permitted. The skin is close and tight. The chest in general gives the impression of depth rather than breadth; for all that, it is in correct proportion to the other parts of the body. The chest reaches down to the elbows, the ribs forming the thorax show a rib spring and are not flat or slabsided; they are not perfectly round or barrel-shaped. The back ribs reach well down. The circumference of the thorax immediately behind the elbows is smaller than that of the thorax about a hand's breadth behind elbows, so that the upper arm has room for movement. Tuck-up is apparent. The back is short, strong, and straight with a slight rise from the root of the tail to the withers. The loin is strong, is of moderate length, and is slightly arched. An excessively long, roached or swayed back must be penalized. The hips are broad with hip sockets wide apart and fall slightly toward the tail in a graceful curve. A steep croup is a fault. The tail is set high and firm, and must be docked, leaving approximately 40% of its length. The tail hangs down when the dog is quiet and is held horizontally when he is walking. The tail must never be curved over the back toward the head when the dog is moving. A tail curved or bent toward the head is to be severely penalized.

Thank you! Its nice because some of the older breeder talk down to me. And think if you dont have what they have your dogs aren't good. I am proud to say my dogs are different then all that are being shown (In northern CA). They did the popular stud thing and so there are TONS of dogs with the same pedigree, Mine is a lot different. Smile

LOL!! They talk down to you because chances are their jealous of what you have..

I know what you mean about the popular stud dog thing.. Who wants the same pedigree everybody else has?? It's good to be different.. At least that way nobody else has what you have.. Works out to your advantage in more ways then you think... Wink

Hey, you go girl ... you breed to what you feel is right and a correct dog will eventually find a judge that actually knows the standard and doesn't just look at what is being shown locally and accept it as correct!

Same thing happened with Chis and the extreme head ... I was told when I moved here that unless I had extreme heads I would not win in CA. Well, I breed for what I feel is more correct because I can read the standard and it says MODERATE and SLIGHTLY POINTED in regard to the muzzle - not super short and square!

And isn't is great you are doing it with pedigrees and dogs that are NOT related to these others? Makes it even more sweet. Wink

ANYWAY, KEEP IT UP, THOSE REALLY ARE GORGEOUS DOGS! Smile

WOW nice reach and drive on that bitch.. Look at her go.. Nothing holding her back is there... Big Grin Bet you have to move fast when running beside her? She reminds me of a Standardbred horse when she moves...

Actually I dont have to move too fast she is small still and she looks good at any speed. That is why I picked her as my #1 pup she always moved so nice. I am big on movement.
