I had a litter in April, three Fawns, three Brindles. I had one Brindle with maybe 8 stripes, then one loaded, and one medium, dam is lightly marked, sire was Fawn, how do modifying factors really work? I know they restrict or allow, but what causes that?
Good question! I really don't know the answer in canines, but will take a stab at it along with asking even more questions...........
To me a "modifying factor" can fall into several catagories.
I'm guessing brindle would be a 'pattern" gene...? In that case, there would be modifying factors in at least 3 catagories and maybe more...? Pigment, Color and Density for sure.
After that, beats me.....?
Some are here because they hope to make a difference, others like to roll around in the feces. You'll be able to "sniff them out" in no time. -DJ's Doxies,
