Hi, I can't seem to find any info on whether its legal for a private breeder to vaccinate a pup and not take it to a vet to have it done. Because I live in Jersey, I know its not legal even if your a vet tech....I'm trying to find out about PA? Does anyone know where on the net I would locate this info. Thank so much!
As far as I know a owner can vaccinate a puppy but for the rabies vaccination, this is from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
Rabies Certification State licensed kennel owners may administer rabies vaccine to animals they own if they are certified as qualified to do so by the PA Department of Agriculture (A written request must be mailed in to the Harrisburg Office). Until they are certified, kennel owners must have their animals inoculated by or under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Rabies Certification
I hope this help you some what.

I purchased a pup from a private breeder in PA that gave the pups their first round of shots herself....It turned out she did not see a vet till I brought her home to mine (didnt; know this till atfer the fact) I asked my vet if that was legal in NJ and he said no. All vacinations have to be done by a licenced vet or a vet tech in the office working under a vet. Its currently being handled by the Attorney Generals Office. Guess they might address that issue. Have super easter.

I give my own shots and have for a very long time. I have also shipped puppies out of state and all they need is a health certificate, they only care if the dog has had a rabies shot.
