I sold a puppy to a great person, but she just wrote to me asking for help. It seems the pup, which would be 4 months old now is eating it's own poop...yuk..
Any help will be appreciated, I need to give this person an answer. I did check for this issue, but can't find anything on it.

Thanks Eva!! I sent that site onto the lady that has the pup, she can take a look at it and see if any of that helps.. Sure hope so..Wouldn't want a kissy from that pup LOL>
I also feel badly when I can't answer a question for them..so that site was perfect.
I have heard that feeding the dog whose poop they are eating zuchini. Because after it is out of them the taste is bad so the other dog wont ant to eat it.
That's one I haven't heard of, but I sent the info to my puppy buyer, anything that works will be a bonus..

I was absolutely shocked at one of the other people interested in one of my pups.
As I always give a kit and written instructions on worming and flea medication..I of course put an ampule of Advantage in the kit. I showed her what it was and said the pup had no fleas, but as 'sand fleas' are terrible this year, to use it anyway, just in case.
She then said, "Oh, o.k., so I just squeeze this into "his" mouth huh"... W E L L, "NO"!!!
No, you'll kill the poor thing. All the instructions were with the ampule, but I explained where the stuff was to be put regardless and then had my second thoughts about this buyer..
I learned that day, never to "assume" puppy buyers are in the know..Good job I spend hords of time with them before I let the pup leave my home.. scary!!

Also another thing, usually when a dog is eating another dogs food it is because it is not being digesting right so it still smells and tastes like the food. Is the other dog scarfing down the food? That could be the reason why its not being digested.
Coprophagia (poo eating) is quite common but no definitive reason has been reached as to why some dogs do this. A vet visit may be in order as sometimes this results from a medical problem such as pancreatic or intestinal problems. If it is merely a habit, there are quite a few OTC or home treatments that can be tried. I have found S.E.P (Stop Eating Poo) from Solid Gold to be effective with my crew. Many times the best treatment is to immediately pick up after them if possible. Hopefully it is something the pup will grow out of.

Really!! I didn't think about telling her to go to the vets with he pup. But also did not know eating pooh could be a result of a health problem..That's good information, I would have completely dismissed that one.
She usually does pick it up immediately she said, but the pup poohs then "gulp" ... yuk..so I'll pass this info onto her also.
She did ask if I felt there might be something wrong with the pup due to this habit!
Thanks:- appreciated...

Chances are it is just habit rather than a medical problem...to be honest, I don't think I have ever come across one that it *has* been anything other than habit. But it is still something to keep in mind.
I hope things work out for her...It *is* rather nasty LOL! (Of course it is worse when you have one right behind another catching it before it even hits the ground...YUK!!)

That was well put..and funny!! Gotta laugh or go nut's!
Well, we are down to going to the vet now, so let's see what he has to say.. This has to stop, it's not a great thing to have happening, especially if one has company over for dinner..LOL.
She's a very good person, excellent with the pup and a check up at the vets won't hurt. He'll probably tell her to put something into the food, or onto the poop..providing the pup isn't ill.
